I just bought a 120 Hz monitor (BenQ XL2420T) and it's working fine while I play and all, but there are a few problems that I don't really understand.
Everytime I reboot my computer it's back to 60 Hz again, and I have to go change it again. It takes like 5 seconds to change so it's not that big of a deal, but it's annoying and I'm assuming it shouldn't be like that. Also, it doesn't adjust properly with any resolution but 1920x1080. I know I should probably be running that res anyway, but I prefer to run a lower resolution without it cutting away half the screen.
Hope someone can help me out.

what's its native resolution? You're probably only going to get its highest performance from it.

Its native is 1920x1080, but I get weird fps lag with that. I got the worst graphics card ever so that might be the cause of that.

With an AMD card I found setting it in Catalyst did nothing whatsoever so when I set the refresh rate through windows it worked.

Oh yeah I was thinking about installing those drivers.
I got an i7 with 4 GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT lollllllll. I change the refresh rate in windows and I've noticed I don't have to do anything with Nvidia Control Panel, that seems to fix itself after windows. What difference will the drivers do though? I don't have a CD thingy to put it in atm, but I probably have a few laying around if needed...

I remember reading one of the specific features of this monitor was that you could run it in any res you wanted while still maintaining 120Hz...

Check Windows and set it there. Check the NVidia control panel to make sure it's not set to 60 bvy default there.
