So I've had several people tell me dx9 isn't as badly optimized as it was before the update. Is this true?
Everything works perfect with this config, the only problem I have is that I can't see the bullets coming out from any hit scan weapon.. anyone know which command should I change?

ComangliaPersonally i hated the circle effect 0 creates around the player, that any beyond the blurryness of the toaster config the 2nd most common reason people added me to fix stuff with the toaster config was about the circle effect 0 creates around the player.
mat_mipmaptextures 0 also gets rid of the circle, but after a while I barely notice it there.
mat_shadowstate is also gone.
Thank you for updating!

KilgorsVanaYou can use this to compare the old version with the new one: https://www.diffchecker.com/Comangliaalso added, removed a couple redundant lines as well
What commands did you remove? so I can manually take them out of my config.
If you use Notepad++ to edit configs it has a Compare plugin that has the same function.

Can anyone give me a hand making DX9 look and feel as similar to how the game felt on DX8 as is possible? I really don't like DX9 but obviously we're all going to have to get used to it.

mat_phong 0
r_worldlights 0
r_pixelfog 1
those will help the most, and already in my 2 FPS configs.

Ever since the last update my game has done this weird graphical thing where a lot of textures (weapons, props, really obvious on engineer building placement blueprint) starts off blurry but then you can almost see "waves" passing over the weapon/prop until the texture becomes pretty damn clear. I might've accidentally messed with a setting, but I can't really recall anything.
Any ideas as to what it could be? On DX8 using "Max FPS for High Quality PCs"

Would switching to dx9 on the max stability config give me significantly less fps? I want to see my reskins.
depends on your current fps, but at least I get around 10-20 less fps

How about using dx8 when playing normally and switching to dx9 when you want to play MM? I know that's definitely what I'm gonna do because fuck dx9.

Yeah they have a lot of work to do atm to make dx9 even close to what dx8 is. I tried out dx9 in a lobby last night and it just felt horrific in comparison, thing is that I still had pretty decent fps, the game just felt a lot worse overall.

I would but what if they never fix anything about it and I am just plunged into having to get used to it? Better to get used to it now right?

Fix what? Currently at least, I don't see anything that's 'broken' with dx8.

Anyone experiencing game crash after connecting to Robot Destruction servers? Started happening with latest config version, was not happening back then.
Had to use the toaster config just to get decent frames on dx9. rip.

So, I upgraded from 1.7a to 1.8beta and saw a noticeable increase in FPS.
Using pazer's benchmark2 I was getting around 130 fps (dxlevel 98, but 91 95 and 98 don't seem to vary fps at all). After changing, benchmarks averaged 153 fps. I changed these settings:
mat_picmip -1
r_lod -1
r_rootlod 0 (I thought this used to go to -1? Capped at 0 now without sv_cheats)
And saw further increase to 160 fps averaged. May test more commands later, but 20% increase is pretty good.

Anyway I can put the quality of sprays back to normal good looking (not pixely)?
I suspect something in my Comanglia's config is causing skinned textures to be transparent or faded in the backpack. Any ideas on which command could be causing this?

I'm pretty sure that's mat_phong 0 that does that.
