I don't know if it counts, but around '04 I started playing Pokemon NetBattle (you were allowed to create different teams with varied IVs and EVs, moves, natures, etc and battle/pvp other players). I found myself a part of this group that was pretty hated but 13 year old me thought that'd be cool. Anyway, fastforward to some time in 2006 or 2007 and TF2 was being teased and brought up. On this group's forum, they brought it up and started talking about playing it. So a few months or so after TF2 dropped, I was able to buy it and ever since, I've stuck to PC gaming. I know that's pretty lame since I'm sure a lot of you have backgrounds with much older games, but that's what it was for me.

TF2 is what kept me on PC, but it happened pretty much on accident. I'd played some games on PC, mostly MMOs with some dabbling into CS and TF2, but I stuck to console gaming since that's what all my friends played on. One day, while my mom and I were out shopping, our house was broken into and our TV and the 360 were stolen. I had a lot of extra time on my hands so I started watching streams on Twitch to kind of fill the gap. I saw Huey Lewis streaming TF2 and I was curious. Huey was on Tangerine at the time and they were such a fun team that I started watching his stream all the time. I idolized him/Skarlett so when I eventually got a laptop, I started playing TF2 in my spare time.
And now here I am.

eeveemaster rings a bell. remember anyone like Celebi, Da Almight Wombat, Soviet Kioku, Lycos, Forte Rijectra(sp?)? I don't remember anyone else, but they were more or less the main people in the PMNB drama circle.

Kotor 1+2, Star Wars Battlefront 1+2, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast and the Sequel Jedi Academy were the first PC games I really loved, oh and how could I forget Republic Commando.
Once I discovered avernum, arcanum and neverwinter nights I just stopped caring about consoles because they didn't have those types of games available

I used to play minecraft pvp servers for a few years. Then when the servers were dying I realised that their best 'kits' and 'classes' from last man standing and ctf gamemodes were direct copies of tf2 classes, ie 'soldier' was a guy in full iron armor who could fly by right clicking on walls, 'medic' healed teammates by hitting them with a golden sword, 'demoman' could make exploding traps, 'engineer' built stupid turrets (not much different from tf2 actually)...
Man I wish I'd known where they stole all those ideas from at the start.

I got a pc and internet pretty damn late for the average player, and purchasing TF2 wasn't even a big deal. I saw it one day after school and played dustbowl for 4 days in a row. Today itll take a miracle to convince me to buy a new game in comparison lol.

I've played total war since I was about 5 or 6 starting with Rome total war after my cousin showed me it, I've pretty much always preferred PC gaming.
It has to be TF2 for sure, however, I always remember playing Rollercoaster Tycoon/SimCity on the computer as a younger child.
There was also this like history channel FPS game called Kuma War I think, my twelve year old self could not stop playing that.

emulators are amazing things when your childhood was spent below the poverty line. "wait, I only need to wait overnight for dozens of games to download, and I can play each for hours on end? jesus christ this is a miracle"
then I bought tf2 on a whim thinking it would play as well as snes9x on my awful computer, got incredibly confused when it didn't, and learning on why is how I got into the actually-paying-for-things-legitimately part of PC games
