I don't really know what to title this thread seeing as the entire purpose of this hasn't been found yet, but it's speculated to be a new Valve game (potentially HL3).
There's a bunch of easter eggs that people have been following in this winter sale that Valve has planted on various store pages and in various images. Right now you can get a weird badge for your profile by going here and typing "search" in the search bar, hitting enter, then typing "1v7531" in the popup box.
As for the HL3 stuff, there's an image that has what seems to be a hidden lambda in it. See the reddit post here.
There's a reddit and discord for this thing with people seemingly working 24/7 to try to find what exactly this is. If you want to see just how much they've done so far, check out this reddit thread.
What do you guys think about this? Could it be HL3 for real? Valve just fucking with us? There's also speculation it could be a new Valve franchise.

Well they kinda did the same with the clicker game, they "told" people to use scripts to get the last badge(i think it was lvl 1m that you needed to reach to get it), so they know steam users love this kind of stuff

A part of me wants HL3 to happen, but a part of me doesn't. All of the speculation, the positive thoughts, the let downs and, hell, it even becoming a meme - It's been pretty wild, but once HL3 drops, if it does, that's over. I mean the last couple TF2 args were cool, same goes with the Portal one, but those weren't nearly as big. Plus, what if HL3 didn't live up to the hype? That'd hurt.

My opinion is that there was no ARG or mystery originally. I think valve just added the red herring badge and started being cryptic after seeing the community jump to conclusions. Still it would be awesome if they are announcing something, and this is a fun way to do it.
