IT'S OUT THERE, YOU JUST GOTTA FIND IT, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF MAN
right. that said, it's really different for everybody. find something that you like, find something that seems to force you to get better, be it like mge'ing against better people, playing DM, playing ammomod, playing endif...people just learn in different ways, etc. jump servers, dicking around in pubs with shotgun+rocket jumper, and whatnot.

dm/positioning/comms/focusing targets/goodjumps/abusing unlocks/offclassing
this all gets better with experience, get bad like me
also watch matches and/or demos of other soldiers playing, play pugs, dm etc all that fun stuff

wait until a scout lands to shoot their feet.
if you're chasing a medic or demo that is trying to surf away, shoot in front of them, or really just anywhere not behind them
If you pocket, practice shotgun aim
If you roam, figure out good hiding spots
as a pocket, know when you're losing a fight and when to get your medic out
play directs in mge

ammomod is infinitely better than mge, use it to practice your rockets, and if you are a pocket, play dm and only use shotgun to practice that. If you are a pocket, I would recommend at least pugging medic so you understand where the heals are going, when, and why. As a roamer, take as few heals as possible, and know when to bomb. Watching povs of good players is a solid idea as well.
and with any class, practice and play
and with any class, practice and play
Why is it that everyone on the forums claims ammomod is superior, yet when I'm in MGE I'm always sitting in an empty ammomod arena trying to get people to join, and in the unlikely event that someone joins, they leave after a few rounds.
..but on topic: watch lots of demos. Both your own and of better players.

I accidentally got good at Soldier
tr_walkway+JumpiT=good solly dm
I've got like 200 hours on solly and at least 90 of them were spent on jumpiT. I just played tr_walkway while waiting for games or when I was bored. Launch pad with random trajectory for like 20 minutes at a time is actually really good for your reflexs and aim. Plus getting airshots is fun.
course none of that will help your gamesense or anything

Two cents. It's all a lot of questions - it's more for you to think about and somewhat figure out yourself since there is no one size fits all.
On a basic level you can look at pocket as leading the charge - capitalising on advantages that other players on your team have created. Be it damage or positioning, to something like having an ammo advantage - you are mainly the one pushing forward dealing out the damage once this advantage has been created.
There are no real "tips" to positioning - you have to look at the current situation and adjust accordingly: do you need to be on high ground, do you need to have more players on flank, do you 100% need a scout with your combo? These are just some of multiple questions that you need to think about when playing, and it just generally boils down to what is happening.
One of the most important things to do is have good communication with your demo. Quite often you and your demoman can play simple games of bait and switch - where one takes the damage/wastes other teams ammo, then the other follows through after that to exploit the small window of the other team not being ready/no ammo to deal larger amounts of damage and take positioning.
On the basic level as pocket you just sit on the medic. Later on you don't want to be attached via an umbilical cord as quite often, focusing on sitting on your medic makes it a lot harder for you to take advantage of extremely small advantages that your team have created for you. You want to look out for your medic, sure, but if you have killed half their team because you "left your medic" and he dies (but you in turn, win the round/point/rollout), then wasn't that a small sacrifice?
Watch povs, stvs - try and figure out why the soldiers are doing what they are doing. Some soldier may be doing a dumb amount of jumps - why? Could he be jumping around like an idiot because it's fun? Is he trying to get somewhere fast? Is he creating a distraction for his team?
tl;dr - play more, watch other people play, think about the game, shoot the bad guy.

Congratulations!
You made enough threads asking how to get good, so now I've been sent to reveal the secret. There's a medicine that you have to take, it's a small pill once a day for however long you want to be good; starts working instantly. Send me a pm on this site with your card number and your address.

One of the problem that new soldiers have is they always shoot rockets short. What you wanna do is shoot the rockets to the shins(right below the knee cap) of the models for maximum damage and not just the feet and they still be juggled. I figured out a way to shoot longer rockets but some may think it's stupid. lol.
For pockets, uber management is HUGE!
Good pocket soldiers can split the enemy uber several times...get a pick or two..and still get their medic to safety.

Objectively watch demos of high level players (Don't waste your time drooling over cool rocket jumps, aim, or whatever). Play TF2mix.
