There's a new WW2 shooter in the works called Battalion 1944. Apparently has former AAA developers and former esports professionals on the team. In the video below they explain they are really trying to capture the essence of older skill based shooters like CoD 2, Day of Defeat, and bring them to modern game development. Along with that there will be no unbalanced unlocks or any of the things that piss me (and many others) off about modern shooters.

Their Twitter bio: "Battalion 1944 is the competitive multiplayer shooter that will propel World War 2 into the next generation on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam."

I freakin' love WW2 shooters man, so excited for this. Seems like the developers have the right ideas to make a quality game.

the fact that they are taking the time to do so much research about the history of ww2 is awesome. The graphics also look like they will be incredible.

It does look super promising. Basically seems like it'll be a really good modern remake of CoD 2. Gotta love the fact they have competitive gameplay in mind while developing it too.

Definitely donate to the kickstarter if you can. I dropped the ~$70/$80 to get into closed alpha and beta, steam early access, etc. It's already getting massive support, but I really want to make sure it reaches the goal they have set by the beginning of March.

Looks good, but too realistic for me:(

I was used to Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and there is no game like it currently :(

This sounds amazing, I really hope it actually ends up being how they are making it sound and doesn't just end up being a crappy moneygrab like so many great sounding kickstarter campaigns

Also esports hype

I don't know, I mean it'll be realistic but it won't be one of those strategy/realism WWII games it appears. To me it seems more of a CoD 2 kind of game. They said in youtube comments they are designing competitive modes for 4v4/5v5/6v6.

EDIT: ninja'd by deetr on the youtube comment thing

obviously its not going purely for realism or competitive, but if they can have a balanced competitive game while also maximizing realism I will be super fucking excited to play.

This is exciting! The only decent WW2 game that I've played recently is Rising Storm, which is also still pretty fun

My first online FPS was DOD beta. I absolutley loved the DOD series and have never gotten over how lackluster DOD:Source is. COD 2 I played a ton as well, and I was just thinking recently how there isn't a good modern WW2 shooter to fill that gap.

This trailer/game tapped right into my soul. Looks awesome.

hah. I was just talking to my mates yesterday about another "COD1/2/3/ WW1/2 shooter" I guess this answers that!

Here's hoping they do some interesting stuff. Maybe Russia joining the axis? Pacific or Ostfront? Maybe Italy never turned

EDIT: TAKE MY DAMN MONEY!
