For sci-fi, 2001: A Space Odyssey I think is worth a watch just because of how well it has aged, especially considering it was made nearly fifty years ago without the aid of computers.

If you want to watch some science fiction which has aged horribly, I would recommend Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It also has the added benefit that you will be shielded from disappointment for life, because no film can possibly be as terrible as it. As an IMDb user accurately and truthfully summarised it:
