game is like this for those wondering:

-the ranking system is in trophies. when you win, you get trophies, and when you lose, you lose trophies.
-when you win you also get a crate drop, and these crates can take 3-8 hours to open, but if you pay real life money they open instantly
-these crates hold cards, which are the troops you use in battle
-you can only hold 4 crates
-the gameplay is fun but super repetitive, its super frustrating losing to cards that you still dont have because you get shit rng from crates WHY CANT I GET WITCHES OR PRINCES OR CROSSBOWS OR EVEN BALLOONS FUCK

basically its a cash grab, it lures you in with decent gameplay but then only limits you to a certain amount of rewards for winning (over a period of time) unless you pay cash

The thing that frustrates me the most is that I only have 3 epic cards right now, and they are the shittiest ones. I have the skeleton army, lightning spell, and the giant skeleton. My dad plays it too and he started after me but has 6 epic cards like the goblin barrel (which is pretty irritating at times), prince, witch, balloon, and 2 more I can't think of right now.

i got really into it, hit the grind hardcore for a week, then quit because actually progressing without paying ridiculous amounts of money is laughably slow

It's a really simple version of clash of clans. Could be pay to win, but those who don't pay have the exact same oppurtunities as those who don't pay, not paying just means a slower pace. In Clash of clans you have to train troops to attack, in clash royale the only thing that stops you from attacking is the fact that you won't get chests for winning... These chests are covered above, though some take longer than 8 hours to open.
Basically, if you like clash of clans but think the strategy is over your head or you don't have much time, play Clash Royale. It's a blast and easy to pick up.

game is pretty fun if you're bored on mobile, very polished.
it's not hard to get cards if you're patient, should only take a week or so to get most everything you'll need.
just play it casually it's a good time killer.

I have been playing since it came out and I enjoy playing it. I think if you know how to play you do not need high level cards. I got 4400+ cups without spending any money on the game and I have all cards.

It's a bigger esport than TF2.
