Hopefully other companies with follow now the electronic car market seems more profitable. Competition is needed to drive this industry forward.

That is extremely exciting and I'm hoping tesla can continue to push their prices down with their continuing success to even further open the market for more electric cars worldwide.
Their continued success will push more of the auto industry to follow the trend of innovative and clean engineering. I look forward to many other industries following soon after once they see the profits.

Lithium ion batteries are quickly being surpassed by other configurations as well, although not yet in terms of portability and energy-density. Expect mileage per charge to increase to 500 miles within 10 years.

I reserved one, pretty hyped but I'm sad I waited for the reveal instead of as soon as the online platform was available (or going to a store)

My friend just recently bought a Tesla Model S. 70K for one that is 1 year old.. The only reason people are buying these cars is because the $7500 federal rebate which they may not even get! In California there is a $2500 credit also, and some cities will If Tesla sells over 200K cars the rebate drops. And also if Tesla doesn't deliver in time the rebate is possible gone as well.
FYI no cars have really been "sold" as its a $1000 refundable deposit. You get to test drive the car first then maybe in a year or so you can decide if you want it or want your $1000 back.
If you do manage to get the $7500 and some local rebates like in California it could be a very good deal. $25K+ tax for one. If you figure this is getting around 100MPG equivilent, vs a 25MPG average car, you are paying about 1/4 as much to "fuel" the car. Over 100,000 miles (10 year warranty on the battery) that would provide a gas savings of ~10K. $12,000 for gas for 100K miles @ 25MPG. Savings of 20 oil changes @ $30 each = $600. And probably another couple grand in maintenance savings.
If you own a home you could get solar installed and take advantage of state and federal solar rebates. We have a 5.5Kw system which was 1/2 off due to Federal and City rebates. Payoff period of 8 years then 100% free energy from that point on.

It's kind of funny but my dad and I just randomly leased a Ford Focus EV. I saw it on a deal site and it was just too good to pass up. With all the incentives from Ford and the California government, the lease ends up being about $60 a month for a brand spanking new 2015 Ford Focus Electric. It only has an 80 mile range though, but good enough for us for city use. The gas savings vs electricity cost alone will pay for the lease each month. So its a free car for 3 years basically. And after 3 years we can buy it (MSRP is 30K) and we can buy it for 12K or actually sell it and make money potentially.
