Normally I pull around 15-30 ping on the chicago servers listed on the "Servers" page. But the past few days my ping has been ~120 on those. But I still pull ~50 on dallas and ~70 on west coast. So Why am I all of a sudden getting higher ping on chicago which is closest to me?
I tried playing on a valve server in virginia and got 35 ping. And I played chicago pub server and got 20 ping.

I'm in Toronto and I have 120 ping to pretty much all the chicago servers. Anything besides Chicago is okay though. I tracert'd a few IPs and for some amazing reason I'm connecting to Seattle first then to Chicago... I get lower ping to LA than to fucking Chicago wtf.

Unfortunately rogers is even worse as i got constant timeouts/lagging. It's really choosing the lesser of two evils, teksavvy has better prices but afaik it uses rogers infrastructure so the same issues would remain :(

Phoenix I used to ping 40-50 to and I was getting 100+ for a while on the FirePowered servers
Chicago I've had times where I'd ping 80-90 then a month on and off where I am at 120-130.
It's such nonsense and the ISP is usually clueless and unable to do anything about it.
If you are a hardcore esporter it's probably not a bad idea to run 2 connections so you can switch on and off. Run a cable/fiber connection as your main and a secondary DSL connection or something.
