lol I went out last night after the game wearing my Flyers jersey, and I had so many people come up to me and talk about the game, saying it was Steve Mason's fault they lost. I had to refrain from punching them in the face

Anyone who blames Mason is just an idiot who knows nothing about hockey.
I am so hyped and excited for tonight's game I don't even need coffee this morning. Its only 9am and I can't wait for the start. I can feel a win tonight, it will be special down there with the Ed Snider tribute. They are going to pull out a win, 3-1 Flyers.

I'm not a Flyers fan or anything (well I'm cheering for them over the Caps), but I feel the same way. The tribute is going to make a huge impact, and I don't see any way the Flyers should lose tonight. 3-1 seems pretty accurate everything considered.
The other matchups are thankfully falling mostly into place. Florida is not going to do anything once Reilly Smith stops carrying the hell out of them, the Kings are giving the Sharks mercy rounds before making a big comeback in the series like what happens every year, Detroit is keeping things real in Tampa, Dallas is showing Minnesota their place, Pittsburgh is being the better team despite the king doing some good work (the series is pretty solid), and the STL vs CHI series is as expected an incredible fight where the winner should be the favourites to win the cup. I did not expect Nashville to come out swinging against the Ducks, though, but I do think they'll make a comeback and make the series interesting.

the flyers are playing with some fuckin HEAT right now. and the farg is lit. gonna be a good game
Damn, I am just not prepared for my week of depression after the Flyers get knocked out of the playoffs. :(
gecksnevermind
if it makes you feel any better the caps are gonna lose in the second round like they always do

I'm sorry there's no way that the Caps will lose to either the Pens or Rags with how those two teams are playing.

Oops. I forgot about this thread. Anyways, Flyers fans, I feel really bad for you with the way the series has gone. That said, as gecks said earlier, your future looks scary good, and your prospects look scary good.
A good chunk of your young core is locked up long term in Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds and Couturier, who are 28, 26, 27 and 23 respectively. Your star dman is 22, and you have a ton of young players scratching the surface of the NHL, such as forwards in Scott Laughton playing 70 games, Konecny tearing up the OHL (Although I'd like to see him get an AHL season), and Leier who had a good AHL season too. Even AUbe-Kubel looks intriguing. Not to mention you have dmen like Provarov, Hagg, and Sanheim(who from first hand viewing in the WHL is sick, he also a good AHL debut too), and in net Stolarz looking like a good pick. Not that Hextall will pull the trigger, but since you still have all your picks as well as Chicago's 2nd and LAs 3rd and 6th you could potentially swing a trade to move up higher in the draft, or just rake in prospects. As a Canucks fan, I am very jealous of your position.
erkstonTOM SESTITO
Holy shit, Sestito is actually still in the NHL after he got cut from the Canucks? Damn.
gecksFirst off, the Flyers have Hextall as GM, who has done incredible things for the organization, and I suspect he'll continue to do so.
The dude is a wizard, I still remember that twitter exchange I had after the Lecavalier trade. Even though Vinny has been good for LA, the fact he got rid of the amount of dead weight he did still baffles me. Big fan of the work he's started to do and I'm super jealous because of it.
Wish I could say those things about Benning though. While I like his drafting, his signing of Stecher, and the trade to get Baertschi, I hate most of his other trades and his signings. The Bonino trade was terrible as he heavily overpaid, trading a 3rd for Dorsett unnecessary, he proclaims that we're getting younger and then trades Kassian for someone 5 years older than him in Prust (really, you couldnt at least get someone useful?), Lack for below market value (although that's somewhat working out), and the big one, trading Shinkaruk for Markus Granlund, a freaking awful trade. He pisses away assets like losing Corrado on waivers, and unnecessarily adding draft picks (a 5th in the Kassian trade, a 7th in the Etem trade, a 3rd in the Kesler trade). I dont hate his UFA moves as much as other Canucks fans, I'm still not thrilled that Miller was for 3 years, 2 would have been great. All I hope is that with a few prospects in college starting to look really really good (Demko, Boeser, Gaudette) he doesn't let them walk ala Justin Schultz. Sorry for ranting, a lot of Benning moves make me sad :(
AbrissIf Edmonton wins the draft lottery again they seriously need to consider adding a rule surrounding multiple first draft picks in a certain time span
I think I would want to die. Ideally, as a Canucks fan, we end up 1 or 2, but part of me would also like to see the Blue Jackets break the top 3 pushing the Oilers to either 4th or 5th, making up for the Yakupov draft lottery. It would also be funny to see the Blue Jackets trade Johansen, and then immediately draft another franchise center in Matthews. As a Canucks fan though, I want Patrik Laine.
On a non NHL note, anyone here follow the WHL?

The league protects goalies way too much. I agree was a total BS call. I still think this series is far from over but the Blues look good. Taking game 1 OT was such a huge win

So Wilson obliterates Manning in Superbowl 48, and now the Manning name has finally had retribution.

that was so unfortunate that the flyers player had to get taken out on the streacher tonight, hopefully it turns out alright. at least it wasn't a dirty hit just unlucky he hit the boards so hard.

looked scary when it first happened. Latest news is that he is still at the hospital and will be there overnight for precautions. They also said all tests were negative so that it a fantastic sign.

This gif could easily have the blues logo be repalced with Tarasenko, but it works.

Q is putting Toews and Kane on the same line. I don't see how the other 3 will do well against the Blues.
Free McDonalds yesterday because of the lighting win baby! Bring it home!
The Lightning have been doing amazing this series it scares me how good they would be if Stamkos wasn't injured.

It seems strange but I have seen many times in hockey, more than other sports, a star player go down and because of that hole in the lineup, the team needs another player to step up and do the work. What is happening for the bolts is several players are stepping up at the same time and they are playing fantastic hockey right now. Losing Stamkos could be the blessing in disguise the team needs to pull together as a unit.

Jesus, the Blues are outplaying the Hawks decently enough in this period, but the physicality on st louis's side is brutal. Even when the Hawks are trying to hit them, they just dodge out of the way and hurt themselves a la Tarasenko.
tarasenko is so good it's unreal (so are the blues, they're my cup pick and I'm a big fan of theirs)
