froyotech, the brand well-known for its wildly successful team claiming five ESEA championships and two Insomnia titles, has branched out by forming a second roster known as FROYO BLACK.

The team features shade and clockwork from the original froyotech's legendary run, as well as cyzer and tagg, noted for playing with shade on previous top team High Rollers Gaming. bl4nk and Hassassin, originally slated to play for Luca Goers before it met its demise, were chosen to round out the roster. lansky and duwatna, also former members of the legendary froyotech lineup, were linked to the team while it was forming, but ultimately were not part of the final starting roster heading into the season.

teamfortress.tv caught up with shade, the brand manager for froyotech and the captain of FROYO BLACK, who shared his thoughts on the new team:

We originally formed as a match-only team that we thought could compete for a top 3 spot. Since we knew clockwork would only be able to play matches due to Overwatch obligations, we originally fielded a team of people we thought could compete with little practice. However, as we started scrimming to test things out, we started to get the thirst to play a bit more, which led to shifting some players around and picking up more dedicated players.

bl4nk and Hassassin proved to be the answers for us. bl4nk has helped us to fill a major hole in terms of maincalling, while Hassassin is a great up-and-coming demo with lots of skill that just needs some molding from experienced players. Overall, I'm really happy with this roster, and I think we will do very well as the season progresses.

We kept the FROYO branding because I helped birth froyotech and wanted to keep this team in line with that branding. FROYO BLACK was a play on the nWo style invasion from the old wrestling days: a group of veterans coming together and taking over the league. While we are not quite at that point yet, I think we have a good chance to be a top 3 contender.

We are aiming for first place this season, and anything less will be seen as a failure. Beyond that, I have no idea at this point, as right now we are just focused on doing well this season. Regardless of how much we scrim once the season starts, with our experience and talent we expect to be the top contender this season.

I like bl4nk too but I think many would agree with me in saying he's not a strong enough pocket for a top 4 team. medic definitely, just not pocket. Hope I'm proven wrong, would love to see bl4nk tear this season.

from what shade said in the OP it sounds like there's a balance of buddy points and skill points, they could theoretically get another roamer with bigger numbers but tagg knows what he's doing so they aren't looking to make cuts unless someone can't dedicate the general expected attention to the game, in which case changes get made
