Once super stopped retelling stories from the movies, it got pretty good. Excited to see where it goes.

The only saving grace of this show so far has been the few top animators they pulled to animate some episodes. DBS is worse in every way possible to DBZ. Blood and violence is heavily censored as if it was a show from 4kidstv. The animation is less organic, and if you watch an episode from DBZ the difference is pretty clear. Also everything is retcon'd, they went from shattering mountains and energy attacks blowing up cities to a small dynamite explosion at best in DBS. Power inconsistency is another thing, where you have random purple jobbers going on the same tier as Goku at his best. Toriyama has lost his touch and vision ages ago.

Also the transformations are unoriginal and have no build up, SSGSS, Blue, Rosè etc

they need to just out of nowhere change everyone's hair color in the next episode and keep it that way

even in flashbacks too, because consistency doesn't matter

I wonder how many hours of my life have been spent watching DBZ characters Power-Up and just grunt through the TV screen episode after episode.. I am glad there is no way to calculate this number because I think it would be quite depressing.

It's great to see vegeta as a formidable foe again

first, they deformed the ground
then, they destroyed the city
then, they shook the planet
then, they almost tore the universe apart
and finally, with their god form super saiyan powers... they can destroy concrete buildings, but are threatened by slightly powerful bullets

THE POWER SCALING IS AWFUL

what annoys me more than anything else is when most of their attacks won't blow up the planet if aimed at the ground, and yet are considered threatening enough to hurt people arguably more resilient than the universe itself.

these people could blow up planets back at the start of dragon ball z (arguably even back during dragon ball when roshi blew up the moon). there's no sense of danger when you're always being reminded that everyone's pulling their punches.

only when they unleash their ULTIMATE POWER will all the characters be concerned that the planet could blow up.

He lost his touch, should of left others to write the show and supervise it. This had a lot of potential, but I feel a lot of it is curved towards a much younger audience, hence why so much is being mitigated

I don't think it's that Toriyama lost his touch or anything, its just that DB should have fucking ended a long ass time ago. I seriously doubt anyone could have made the recent stuff any less corny. Like yes they could blow up planets before ever confronting Frieza, so where do you go from there? You can't just blow up the earth every single time any two characters fight. If you really need them, there are some simple little explanations, like everyone pulling their punches, or everyone getting better at controlling their power, or everyone needing a planet around in order to breathe. But I think just taking this kids show as a kids show and not worrying too much about continuity is kinda what you have to do in order to enjoy this once you're older. The King of Everything is a child for a reason.
