well I guess you're right. all islams are terrorists and it's a terrorist religion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You said that, not me. Also, it's a known fact that muslims in muslim countries hate US and everything western. So if they don't all commit them, many support such actions.
many extremist ones hate western ideas but that doesn't mean everyone. you can't just assume that all Islamic people support terrorism. when you first saw that this shooting first happened, you assumed the person was Islamic. that's racist.
The shooter was wearing a bombvest and was targeting a gay bar, it is safe to assume that the the shooter was islamic. Bombvests are exclusively islamic thing.

The FBI thinks he has leanings toward islamism, and ISIS had tweets threatening an attack in Florida.

Twiggyand yet america will find a way not to blame their gun laws...
Belgium and France have strict gun laws, did that stop anyone?
"Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control show that on an average day, 91 Americans are killed with guns."
"There are nearly 12,000 gun murders a year in the U.S. – and despite falling crime rates, that number has barely changed since the late 1990s."
"America’s gun murder rate is more than 25 times the average of other developed countries."
Proper sources supplied @ https://everytownresearch.org/gun-violence-by-the-numbers/
im going to canada, later.
in all honesty though, that's quite depressing. trump will just make it worse. we need better gun laws.
i hope everyone is safe in Orlando. stay safe

don't mexican drug cartels get most of their guns from the U.S. anyways?
I'm pretty sure weapons are one of our proudest exports

Gun laws don't prevent terrorism, look at Brussels and Paris.
Sure it might lower petty crime but with the state of poverty in inner cities, knives will be used instead.

a mild distraction from the current fear eating me whole:
considering the fucking attacks against people within LGBT within the past year, you are lying through your teeth for a scapegoat if you think this is solely islam. I am seeing politicians normally decrying my very existence suddenly tolerating me for just long enough to toss shit at everyone else, and it's disgusting. this was not a random club, it was a gay club, and this was not an unintentional choice
currently, many people are in urgent care, requiring blood transfers... which people from their own community can't legally give them. fuck, fuck, fuck

They allowed the discussion when it was mostly people assuming it was some christian redneck, prompting gun law discussion. When the FBI stated they have evidence the shooter has ties to radical islamist groups, they locked and removed the thread, created a new one and started removing every comment mentioning the world 'islam' 'muslim' or 'censorship' because it doesn't fit their agenda

I mean this Is reddit we're talking about. It's so easy for them to act as a news source but at the same time push an agenda cus they're basically ran by children.

That's pretty pathetic... There's plenty of perfectly reasonable comments in that big list of removals.

The scary thing about this censorship shit that it is going to make people go more towards equally authoritarian like Trump :/
Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of that idiot, but there has to be some place for nuanced (i'm looking at you, sheepy) discussion about this topic, and censorship doesn't help that.

The Donald is literally the only sub that actually allows discussion about the event, the only news about it on reddit's frontpage. I'd say that's anti-censorship, not shitposts
regardless the way they're handling this is a joke

So you're telling me they can legally give blood and even groups that used to deny it, which is their right, are now allowing it due to this attack?

I really wish I was there to donate blood or help in any way. This is one of those things you'll never forget about, and you'll know exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened for the rest of my life. I know I live in Canada, but stuff like this makes me terrified for my life especially given all of the shit that happened lately.

just give blood anyway, show solidarity and maybe save a life near you

aratingaprohibiting homossexuals from donating blood is so fucking dumb
not really. In 2016 its more dumb than 1990 or especially 85 but to say that its unfounded is wrong. HIV that slips through a blood test and gets into donor blood can lead to hundreds or thousands of people getting sick and shake the trust of the public in the healthcare system. The HIV rate in the gay community is substantially higher so that's why they're far more cautious. My uncle had HIV and his boyfriend was super into a lot of gay rights stuff but this like the one thing they conceded usually.

id also like to point out that tons of people who aren't gay aren't allowed to donate blood for things that are even rarer or stupider
If you were in europe in a certain time period you're not allowed to give blood for example

it's an old mindset of "well they used to decades ago, so they might now!", forgetting that
a) the "contamination" was because of the same HIV epidemic that was heavily quelled thanks to safe sex
and
b) HIV's fastest spread rate wasn't because two dudes just magically seemed to connect viruses, it's specifically because of anal... which is something heterosexual people can do just as easily
their attempts of progressing it was just basically "well now there's a one-year period where it's ok after that" which still wildly misses the point
I'm just... terrified right now. there was almost no mention that it was a gay club that was hit in most media sites, when given that club's status in orlando, it was very likely an intentional target

It's not homosexuals. It's homosexual men. It's not stupid; it's a public health measure. Like it or not, HIV rates among gay men are high enough to the point where the FDA has deemed it a necessary public health measure to have a one year deferral before they can donate blood.
