Coaches at LAN

Now that the issue has been breached and Kaidus isn't allowed to coach NameLess, the question is: Would coaches at LAN be possible and reasonable if both teams are able to prepare for it?

I think it's a good idea, although practicing it without all 7 players being in the same location is impossible. Will i58 allow coaches?

Razerarena has a working coach system where the online coach is in the same position as someone spectating upon death where they can only spec their own team and can't free cam. It was allowed during the final qualifier just after it was introduced.

I don't think so, part of what makes 6's interesting is the balance between people with good dm and people who can lead the team(there are plenty of people who can do both) if you allow coaches it becomes less about the six players and more about who's coach can better tell them where the other team is. Part of the appeal to sponsors of 6's is that they only need to pay for 6 people, not seven or nine.

if your team is so brainless they need someone not playing to tell them what to do you should reconsider your team.

youngunif your team is so brainless they need someone not playing to tell them what to do you should reconsider your team.

u know people said this about csgo and people tried to find a good igl then they found out that having a coach really helped

its like a demo review but without the demo and on the spot

like look at nip's performance with threat being ingame on a laptop seeing what people are doing, threat standing behind looking at monitors, and nip without threat coaching

kanei46 Mixup didn't need a coach
i49 Epsilon didn't need a coach
i52+i55 Froyo didn't need a coach

Well no shit they didnt need a coach. You dont need a coach to play TF2, but having someone dedicated to analyzing the game in real time could give your team a huge advantage.

and the tf2 community wonders why this game is going nowhere - EVERY other 'sport' in the world uses coaches whenever possible - it helps a team/sportsperson get better which in turn helps the sport get better which in turn appeals to a wider audience which in turn leads to more sponsors

especially with teams being worse than in the past i think its not a bad idea to allow coaches. everybody can shittalk the new generation of players but constructive criticism from a coach will actually help them

We as a community already have enough trouble getting 6 people per team to big lans (especially intercontinental ones), imagine what it'd be like to raise funds for 1 extra person for every team. You can just say that well, no one is forcing each team to get a coach, but that way you're putting teams that can't afford financially to fly and accommodate a 7th player to LANs at a disadvantage.

Sure, it might be a good thing in the future, if we get big sponsors for individual teams that'll pay for it or far bigger LANs where the prizepools will justify the cost, but right now, I don't think it's something that should be allowed.

Just because teams in the past didn't have one in the past, does not mean you should not have one. Coaches aren't necessary to the 6's game already, but think of it as a 7th brain thinking with your team. It will only give a slight advantage over a team that doesn't. Look at CS:GO, Dota 2, LoL, majority of teams in those games have coaches.

Worthless argument since there was no team with a coach (and what #9 said ofc)

PUT ME IN COACH

trying to find the stream hoghlight where duwatna is using the in game coaching feature and watches someo e trickstabbed by a spy he tried to call

in all seriousness though I think this could be a really cool thing and though currently it may give certain teams unfair advantages I can definitely see value in it in the future at some point

not sure how helpful it would be for top level teams that have already established their calling roles and such but I feel like at lans you can already have people looking over the players' shoulders and cheering them on and such it's not too big a stretch to allow someone to do that with a laptop while being in mumble with the team. Not sure how I feel about something like this online... imagine playing in ESEA against a bad team with a super experienced player coaching then and micro managing the fuck out of them

Then again this is already possible to an extent when vetrans like CookieJake are allowed to sandbag open as the medic class and use their superior game sense and calling abilities to direct their teams full of open noobies like juicy...

NEW ROBTHEAWSM LEAK: "the coach will be the 10th class in tf2"

personally i feel as though ingame coaches will just increase the distance between top teams who people want to coach for and lower-tier teams who can't find one. ofc im just guessing at the numbers here but i doubt more than the top 4 teams or so will be able to get a coach. plus there's the fact that coaches will take players out of the already diminishing top-player pool and put them in a sideline role.

i think that having a coach would not only give some more perspecitves on the game other than your players but also could maybe also keep the mumble envoironment a bit more chill if some people are getting a little heated. but the problem is i am not sure if coaches are allowed to speak in certain tournement matches or lans. But coaches could be a good idea if we can get some more money in this game in the future.
