We should list all out our system specs, tf2 beta participation, matchmaking ranks, competitive status, tf2 config, custom stuff and any other pieces of information that help us find a reason for this atrocity (i missed an official for my 6s team :( )
system- gtx 980 (latest drivers), i7 4790k, 16gb ddr3 ram, gigabyte g1 gaming motherboard, samsung evo 120gb sdd, ozc 120 gb ssd, seagate 2tb hdd. predator x34 gsync monitor, aoc 1080p moniter.
participated in matchmaking beta, note- my tf2 was in comp matchmaking beta participation (steam beta participation setting, not the matchmaking ticket)
got to rank 8 in matchmaking
played and currently playing in ugc highlander and ozzfortress 6s.
config- lots of custom scripts, including binds, graphics, aliases ect

My computer specs
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/Budi1782/Budi%20Computer%20Build_zpsdjjvkppv.jpg
8000 Hours TF2
Did Matchmaking Beta
Was as high as Rank 9 in Matchmaking
Very few binds/scripts
No custom HUD
Custom Hitsounds
I've completely wiped TF2 and Steam from my computer and tried a fresh reinstall of both which did not work.
I tried logging onto my other computer and booting on that, it also crashes.
My main computer can run both of my alt accounts and will boot the game.
I have tried to delete the item schema files, have steam cloud off, and reverified the TF2 cache which also did not work .

Supplying dump files on top of this would be extremely useful, as just saying this stuff isn't going to be as useful as showing them the dump file that shows them exactly what causes the crash.

Same here. Everything was working fine until I ranked up in MM (r4). Closed the game and when I came back I started getting said error.

Just now getting this error, trying Necri'd fix, doesn't work for me

Please post dump files or email them to Valve or something. It seems pretty obvious there's some fucky with the rank up in matchmaking and quitting around it breaking the game, it seems like, because that is the only thing in common here, but giving Valve dumps would be very helpful!
If anyone can like, nag Jill or whomever from Valve to look at this and help them identify it, that'd be great too. This is probably going to get more and more widespread.

Deleted almost 100 recent new files, un-synched with cloud, still get the error. I can log into my wifes account from the same computer and have no issues playing on that acct. Something got borked during the night as I was playing just fine then.

Well my alt account suffers from this bug now (my main is fine because I stopped playing MM on it literally because of this issue) and a friend of mine also has it now. Both times happened by quitting the game after ranking up. Going to e-mail dumps to Valve.
I'm noticing a correlation here.

so just another issue to add to the list to discourage playing MM? awesome.

I've tried everything I can do to get some eyes on this issue with Valve, including emailing Eric and PMing Jill on Reddit after deciding to finally go to r/tf2 to find their account, so hopefully this gets figured out fully soon and fixed, because I'd really like to play MM for fun on my main but I'd rather not lose access to my game in case if I'm needed for backing up.

TF2 update news show a new post about matchmaking. It does not explicitly address our issue but I was curious if they fixed the bug. So I started TF2 on my main account and it seems to work just fine. I guess Valve fixed it without releasing a client update?

Just tried. Works here too now. Thanks for silent support Valve, I would have just kept assuming it was borked if it wasn't for this post.

Ok, so after seeing some people stating it was now working, I decided to give it a try. Since I used to have novid and dxlevel9.5 on my launch (but deleted it when I saw this might be the issue) Tf2 brought me to the main menu.
All Matchmaking (Comp, Casual and MvM) were all grayed out. Since Steam was down, I figured it was just on their end.
I swapped to my alt, which still ran everything perfectly.
Went back to my main and poof..... getting the old error back again now
cutllinkedlist-overflow
So, still not working.....no joy in TF2-town
Guess I'll just smurf on my alt till they get around to fixing this.

So, if everyone (im assuming here) in this thread is above level 7 in MM and has the CUtllinkedlist-overflow error that means the error is tied to our accounts hence why we can use alts and play offline. I tried playing offline then going online only to crash with the same error and playing on my alt works fine so it has to do with ranks. We just need to wait it out.

Plunkett101So, if everyone (im assuming here) in this thread is above level 7 in MM .
I believe I jumped to rank 5 only but, it did occur as I was ranking up and left the game.

What bothers me is I sent Steam Support and the TF2 Development team structured, detailed emails of the issues, the dump files, etc and I haven't even received a response and that was 3 days ago. You'd think with the number of people having this issue I'd at least get a response that they are working on it, but nothing. Very disappointing customer service.

If it's on their end it could fix itself after an indeterminate amount of time maybe, but uh, yeah my alt and my friends account are still broke.

I just got a response from Steam Support (took 3 days). They asked for a diagnostic report of my computer, so I sent that off to them. We'll see what response I get on how to fix the issue. I'll update here as I know more.

I got the same and I posted my dumps and diagnostics report. Which is really fucking dumb because the problem is 100% at their end. But whatever.

We just need b4nny to have this issue, then I'm sure we'll hear something.

Your system report indicates that McAfee Security Scan Plus is running on your computer. This software is known to interfere with the Steam client and games. Please try completely removing all of this software. Also, please unplug all none essential devices from the computer(controller, thumb drives, etc.), then restart your computer and test the issue again.

If the issue persists, please reply with an updated MSINFO that reflects the changes made.
Fucks sake Valve, get some decent tech support. I mentioned multiple times to them that it works to play in offline mode and it also works to play on other accounts and that it 100% cannot be a problem on my end and they give me this shit. Fuck you valve. Fuck you
