From my experience it's always been a bad idea to start a thread to get publicity for a new pug group but here it goes
Hey, I know there was once already a new map pug group (original thread here), but with the new slurry of maps being released in alpha/beta and the old group having been abandoned since January, I figured this idea might not be a bad pug format to revive. We've hosted one pug last night with half-decent results, and plan on running continually on weekends.
Current Map Rotation:
- cp_cardinal_a1a
- cp_cargo_a5
- cp_reckoner_b3
- cp_logjam_rc2a
- koth_bagel_a6
- cp_bravo_a3b
- cp_atacama_a3b
Our map rotation is open to suggestions, and in the very near future we will be implementing a Google Forms survey between pug maps to collect feedback data for maps as an attempt to become another feedback source for mapmakers. Pugs will be hosted every weekend from 10:30 PM EST onward, and will be kept alive as long as we have 12 people waiting to play.
Both of our head admins have experience hosting other pug groups with varying degrees of success, however we aim to make this a unique and fun experience for anyone who wishes to play. We'll be hosting weekends starting at 9:30 PM EST if anyone would like to step in and join.

I don't think logjam is the best choice as it isn't "new". I can't think of one to replace that spot, though.

Pugs just ended for the night, were very successful in terms of players coming in! Hope that everyone had a fun time playing tonight!

Ohh, I love this initiative. Sadly the time is a bit off for my schedule, or I'd be happy to join weekly. Looking forward to the feedback to come out of this!
As a suggestion, this might be a good opportunity to branch out into other game modes than 5 cp, if the map list looks a bit short.

Yea, only having 4 maps to play and having pugs start later at night has reduced both the map pool and the maps played per night. I plan on experimenting to see how early/late I can host though I'll probably settle somewhere in the 9:00-9:30 range. Just figured I'd keep it later during the HL season as to not host during typical scrim times/nights and attract less people. I have thoughts on maybe adding gravelpit to the map rotation as well as any maps that are recommended through the map submission survey, but maybe that would be insane :P

Maybe you can make it a new and retro pug group. You can have what you said, as well as GPit, Coalplant, Logjam, etc.

I've tried this idea before, and it's unappealing to most players as they're playing maps that have usually been long gone from the 6s map rotation and are usually gone for good reason. The majority of players don't seem to want to play older maps due to both the unappealing thought of playing an old map with the massive playstyle change that's happened in the years since that map's release or because it just doesn't benefit anyone if it's never going to be in rotation again.
I mention adding a map like Gravelpit because while its playstyle is very different to today's TF2, I feel like it definitely provides some much needed diversity in the TF2 map pool, and would be a nice example of a map that showcases team coordination, rotation, and a more fluid class choice over today's cp_whatever. That's not to say the majority of cp maps are poorly designed (quite the contrary, props to mapmakers like chojje and Phi), just that it would be very nice to see other gamemodes integrated into 6vs6.
The point of this group is really more of trying out some different maps (mostly new) to see if they'd be fun to run in the current map pool provided we use ESEA configs and whitelists.

Wow, thanks! Really appreciate all of the support we're getting from the community. I've seen the group mentioned in quite a few places, and am glad to see people open to trying out our group!

Pugs were super successful tonight, really happy about the attendance and feedback people have for maps! Thanks to everyone who showed up, as well as map makers for providing a lot of the maps we played! I will be DMing all map makers their feedback spreadsheets through Steam or tf.tv directly. Looking forward to next weekend!

General Updates:
http://www.strawpoll.me/11023779
Please let us know what time and day you are available to pug, would like to host more and it'd be good to know what nights are best for people to show up!
We now have a command on TF2Maps.net's Steam chat bot! If anyone is here from the mapping community, you can find server and mumble info by typing "/Pugsinfo" into the steam chatroom for TF2Maps.net. Huge shoutout to Fantasmos for doing this for us, hoping it brings some mappers into the comp community :)
Also, we have moved mumbles in order to accommodate more than 20 players at a time. The new server info is:
Address: mumble.accelerateservers.com
Port: 64871

We will also be slightly changing how pugs operate.
Due to the very large amount of maps we need to go through and get adequate testing for, we will only give each major design iteration 5 pugs before moving on to a new map. We want to balance the amount of play testing each map revives and the amount of maps submitted.
The rotation will be as follows:
-koth_bagel_a8 (Has 1 play)
-cp_atacama_a3b (Has 1 played)
--cp_bravo_a3
-koth_forge_b3
-cp_cargo_a5 (Has 3 played)
-cp_cardinal_a1a (has 3 played)
-cp_alloy_rc2a
-cp_reckoner_b3
-cp_logjam_rc2a (has 1 played)
In addition to that, we had people approach us about the inclusion of Highlander into New Map Pugs, so we have our list for that as well.
-pl_dawns_vigil_a14
-koth_bagel_a8
-cp_alloy_rc2a
This rotation is with the intention of getting maps made by less experienced developers that are in early stages of development and putting the maps by more seasoned developers after them as they have greater access to play testing and need the help less.
EDIT: Updated cp_reckoner to b3.and corrected mistake about amount of times koth_bagel was played.

bumping to see if there's any interest in this left. It kinda went inactive for a bit due to the ESEA season's start causing everybody to be slammed so no one could really host nor play. Just gauging whether or not people are down to either play or help out. Post ITT or DM/Add Me and join the group

ShdSteelAre these ever on? :/
As console said, they sort of died out when the season started, but hopefully they'll be able to rebound as it looks like Console is trying to make happen.

New Map Pugs are back! Well at least for tonight.
With koth_bagel_e1 being released a bit ago and not receiving any testing yet, I contacted Console and we're bringing New Map Pugs back for the night.
So join Console and me in the mumble and the server for some pugs.
