you should care since you use steam and might one day have a problem with it,

and yes it is fucking awful i tried to get a refund earlier this year and wanted the money put back into my bank account but the guy at steam support told me that wasn't possible and when i asked him why it wasn't possible he told me he had already answered me and wouldn't reply anymore.

I remember when I got robbed on the street and got my cellphone stolen I had a hard time with steam support so I could log back to my account again, they got me waiting like 2 days to get a response

never had any bad experiences with steam support
one day i forgot the password of my old email which was "connected" to my steam account and got my account back in less than 24h thanks to steam support
although it'll be good to have a live chat system or something like that

I thought their policy was if you wanted a refund it could be transferred into steam currency?

Valve is hilariously incompetent and is basically just riding the momentum from there previous success. It is sort of a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. Everyone uses Steam because everyone uses Steam. Valve doesn't need to do anything but laugh there way to the bank.

Ragor2 days is fuckin' lucky. One friend of mine no longer had access to the master key to remove the steam mobile authenticator from their Steam account (when it was a newly-added thing), and it took them approximately THREE WEEKS to reply/resolve the issue, which is just hilariously bad.

And yet if you have a problem with your World of Warcraft or Battle.net account, you can get in contact with a Blizzard rep within mere minutes, if that. How is it possible for a titan of a company like Valve to fail so spectacularly when it comes to customer support? Is it just one of those jobs that nobody in the company wants to do since it's based on the philosophy of their work and project choices being 'passion driven'? Like, I don't get it at all.

Because valve is an employee centered company and not exactly a customer based one

I had an issue with one of my steam codes being partially unreadable and searched for multiple hours to get help. All I got was dead ends and forum posts. Nothing with an actual person.

Valve will try to solve as many customer problems as they can with computers rather than hire filthy humans.

The mobile auth method is a pain in the ass, I have like 7 steam friends that had the same situation as mine

it's still super super dumb

like if you have an email attached the least they could do is have some email way of logging in and just lock trades to be with mobile auth or something

because right now if you don't have a 5 inch big device that is easily stolen or lost and a 6 digit code that (even if u wrote it down) is probably lost after like a year of the auth being out your account is just fucking gone

Smesinever had any bad experiences with steam support

My best friend accidentally muted herself over VOIP in TF2, she sent them a ticket and it took them literally 4 months to respond. The ticket they sent back basically said "If you still have this problem send another ticket".

My friend sent them a ticket regarding like the trade standing of his account (I don't remember specifically what it was, I think he just straight up couldn't trade) and it took them like 6 weeks to respond.

It's a huge fucking problem.
