no need to post muma i got you covered
muma's favourite musical is hamilton
I'd not consider myself a theatre nerd but I really love Martic McDonagh, theres a week-long festival coming to my city where theaters from across the eu will be playing his best pieces, looking forward to that
I also would love to see A Streetcar Named Desire or just see any Broadway show thanks to Birdman
Lastly I remember going to Saint-Petersburg and literally the only 'cultural' place I went there was room-sized theater where they played my favorite piece - Griboyedov's 'The Woes of Wit', that was astonishing
im not big into theatre but i saw finding neverland on Broadway as part of a school show choir trip and it really was incredible
I was in theatre in high schools purely for the baddies
I REALLY LIKE THEATRE
That being said I haven't participated in any theatre stuff since high school, but some favourites are The Last Five Years, Anything Goes! (Sutton Foster killed in her role a few years ago), Guys and Dolls (Marlon Brando hnrhgrhhh), Phantom of the Opera (of course), West Side Story (watching it on TCM as I respond to you here), yes Hamilton is incredible, and Funny Face. I have a soft spot in my heart for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes because I was involved with it in my senior year of high school.
I hadn't heard of The Last Five Years until the Anna Kendrick/Jeremy Jordan film version, but it's really very good. It's kind of intense to commit to watching because it is actually 99% music/musical dialogue, but the way it's structured is so interesting and the story is beautifully told.
i acted in a lot of musicals/plays as a child. kinda have the desire to get back into it, but i've developed a lot of anxiety/stage fright since then
I did tech for almost every show in my high school, mostly building sets/painting & sound design/sound board stuff
Probably going to get involved with theater stuff at my uni as well, think they're putting on Frankenstein this semester
Never acted or stage managed before
as some might guess from watching my stream, acting has been a lifelong thing for me
on the topic of theatre specifically, i was part of the musical Annie Get Your Gun in high school. was a great time. have done countless plays and more recently some heavily improvised live events which i enjoy quite a bit
i did theatre in highschool, it's awesome and you meet a lot of nice people
musicals are pretty cool, anything by lin-manuel is pretty good. i did guys and dolls my senior year
and my junior year my school did oklahoma
I did theater in high school and in middle school. My favorite show is Hamilton. The people there know absolutely no boundaries, so expect a lot of touching and dumb jokes if you're looking into doing a show.
Did theatre all through high school and have been doing some since then. Favorite show I've worked on was Monty Pythons Spamalot. Much prefer to work on shows than watch them, it's a crazy experience.
wruI also would love to see A Streetcar Named Desire or just see any Broadway show thanks to Birdman
anything by tennessee williams is incredible honestly

I've recently been on a kick of listening to/watching sing-through shows so I know what you mean there's something about the format that makes them really fascinating

have you done any professional productions recently? What was the experience like? How would you compare doing the live improv events to a scripted show?
avaiihnim not big into theatre but i saw finding neverland on Broadway as part of a school show choir trip and it really was incredible
That show was one of the few that inspired me to really start getting into theatre when I saw it on Broadway and I used a song from it to audition for my first-ever out-of-school show so it holds a special place for me
When I was growing up, I did a lot of community theater, but it was mostly because my mom taught voice and was always a leading lady--Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, Kate in Kiss Me Kate, even Cio-Cio-san in Madama Butterfly--so I got dragged into it. I really liked singing and dancing, but theater itself was more her thing than mine. It's kind of a trip because people in my hometown often ask if I'm still performing when I visit, but I'm way into math and science instead...
My mom and I actually got one real gig together for a summer when I was 13 or 14, and I got the chance to talk to a bunch of actors trying to make it professionally. They told me, "If you can be happy doing anything else, do it," so I took their word for it. I did spot one of them in a minor role on Orange is the New Black later on, though, so I guess he's still at it.
I think my favorite role was Little Red in Into the Woods.

Not recently, no. The improv live events, for example many of them are murder mysteries where a crowd shows up and we play the characters, those are what I enjoy more and play more to my strengths. Over the years I've developed a skill and a preference for spontaneity and thinking on my feet, which is purely from doing the high school improv. It's the same thing I explain to people when they ask why I don't do standup comedy - writing/memorizing stuff is okay, but I am more comfortable when I have to think quickly. Just one of those things.

In my mind, theatre is one of those things that you really have to have a passion for in order to be happy doing it--it's often a ton of work that can easily burn you out if it's not your thing. It's great that you've found your passion though
Also, I can't say I'm not jealous that you got to do Into the Woods. It's one of my all-time favorite shows and I want so badly to do it one day
I have seen a few shows on Broadway. I was lucky enough to get tickets to see Hair in 2009 for 15$ and was in the third row. One of the actors came down and sorta gave me a lap dance. Also saw A Little Night Music with Angela Lansbury and got to meet the cast and production crew after the show. Billy Elliot and Waiting for Godot which were also pretty good. I studied Drama in uni and ended up going to more shows then I can remember. My favourite from school was Rocky Horror. Probably the best produced show when I was there.
been to several shows and love them all, but i REALLY liked pippin. probably my favorite so far.
I did tech up until my High School's play this semester when I decided to audition and somehow made it in over people who were around much longer than me in theatre. It's even better as it's A Few Good Men, which is my favorite play.
I did lights and sounds for my old high schools theater productions and it was really fun. Sadly my new school is really small and doesn't have a theater program at all, so I have to look into finding a way to re join the theater program at my old school
one time i was visiting time square because my brother was going to college in connecticut and 2 random people in suits gave us 3rd row tickets to see the lion king on broadway and that was really cool
I did theatre all through high school! I was in Man of La Mancha where I played a henchman and also played first violin accompaniment on stage for some songs that required it. I was also Thalia, the Muse of Comedy in Xanadu, where I was in full drag, and I was also Igor in Young Frankenstein. I also played bass in the pit orchestra for Shrek the musical!
