Pentagon paid PR firm $540mn to make fake terroris

"The Pentagon paid a UK PR firm half a billion dollars to create fake terrorist videos in Iraq in a secret propaganda campaign exposed by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism."

https://www.rt.com/usa/361385-pentagon-pr-firm-terrorist-videos/

What do you guys think? Could this have been kind of like the declassified documents that show that the Vietnam war was a false flag (Gulf of Tonkin incident) where we claimed our ships were attacked by Vietnam in International waters so we could go to war with them?

The real article is actually pretty interesting.
http://labs.thebureauinvestigates.com/fake-news-and-false-flags/
The company was engaged to produced propaganda but the fake terrorist videos were a separate entity where they would edit existing Al Qaeda footage and implant it with tracking software and plant during marine raids.

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about when it comes to Vietnam though, so you've obviously come to some obviously different conclusion from this article.

The money is a bribe. They're bribing a UK Public Relations company to ruin their reputation and mislead the entire world. (and a bit of cost to make the videos I guess)

This implies that Bell Pottinger were in some way a normal PR company or previously untainted by dubious political motivations. Nothing is further from the truth, they always have taken anybody's money to do anything, cover up human rights abuses, corrupt politicians, the list is endless and they are notorious for it in the UK. I'd say smearing Islamic extremists is on the more acceptable side of what they normally do. Maybe that's why it cost so much, not morally reprehensible enough.

News-flash: every government lies and it has nothing to do with left or right. Also the US far-right? What a joke.

The 'lies' we are talking about here are false propaganda that was then used in order for the US to go to war for personal gain.
It's not lies that someone says to become prime minister or have his party elected.

The main reason US is described as an Imperialist system is because it invades other countries either through the classic formula of fake propaganda to plant fear in the minds of its people to then feely go to war or through economic war by taking out (via assassination or otherwise) people in powerful positions and replacing them with their trusted companions who follow designated recipes that only profit the US.

Lets not talk about CIA crimes, NSA privacy scandals, torturing 'enemies' during wars, trading arms with ISIS for profit, drone attacks killing innocents 90% of the time, increasing poverty rates in Argentinian governments lead by the US and many many more. Maybe not 'nationalist country' far-right, but its clearly a very very right winged country.

The funniest thing one can take from this, is that although the US is the only one that benefits from all of this the unemployment rates are rising, shit minimum wages are still a thing, racism is still very existent, college loans are ridiculous, more than 500,000 homeless people and so on.
Turns out the money from all the wars and the dead soldiers doesn't even go to the people that the war is supposedly fought for, but rather the pockets of middle class bussinessmen.

I don't think you know what right-wing actually means, you realise many powerful governments employ these kind of totalitarian tactics including leftist ones like Russia and the UK? Throughout history the left has been responsible for many great atrocities and destruction of human life, but it's not even a partizan issue and you're completely missing the point if you want to blame this kind of immoral bullshit on "the far-right." Do you think any government can realistically or even SHOULD do anything about racism? What do you propose? Mind control devices to stop people thinking the wrong way? Any government solution you could come up with to solve the issue of racism would be just as bad if not worse than any "NSA privacy scandal." Totalitarian nonsense.

Adnurak Throughout history the left has been responsible for many great atrocities and destruction of human life biskuitThe US lies because its [...] far-right country

I would advice both to start using the 2dimensional system[political compass with 2 axes, left-right, libertarian-authoritarian] instead of the traditional left and right. Blaming things on the left wing or the right wing often disregards nuance. When you say "THE RIGHT MADE OUR LIVES WORSE" or "LEFTISTS KILLED MANY" just makes you look dumb and uninformed.

Although it is a big problem, racism is quite easy to understand and it is nothing more than the outgrowth of economic forces and social relations flow out of the economic forms of production.
Racism is a specific product of capitalism and a universal feature of capitalism. Capitalists need a racial inferiority to cheapen the cost of labor and luckily for them, this comes automatically with the economic system.

You simply mustn't fail to understand the close connection between racism and an economic system that subconsciously places individuals in a certain 'class' based on their wealth and their wages which in the end creates a social hierarchy and results in class war for the profit of the top 1%.
Inequality is always going to exist for the simple reason that people aren't equal in the first place.
If they were, then they would be paid the same money and they would have the right to the same services and products that everyone has.

TL;DR: The problem lies within an economic system that subconsciously promotes inequality (and it is pretty profitable).

the US classes don't separate by race though so it isn't really racism.

Unless you have some serious numbers to back your statement, I'm going to have to say that's not exactly true. There's more than plenty of people that are below the poverty line in America who are white and have to work 3 jobs just so they can make it to pay their bills for the next month. Also, families who fall into that economic category are usually heavily reliant on food stamps, canned foods, and fast food. They usually aren't able to go to the grocery store and stock up on fruits and vegetables so that they can save some money during the week and not go out to eat dinner at a fast food restaurant. I won't argue that there isn't correlation, but that doesn't mean that there is causation between the two.

Personally I believe the problem is inflation. So many people are wanting more money, but few are wanting more for their money. Plus I (and others most likely) would certainly be happy to not have to fork over 15 bucks for a burger at a fast food restaurant that's not very good for you.

Going back to what I had said earlier, correlation does not equal causation. Yes, there is a problem with the top 1% making substantially more than the other majority of the population, but not all of the top 1% was just born into their wealth. They had to work incredibly hard to get where they were as well. And there are absolutely a number of very wealthy people in the US that aren't white and still make a lot more than their white counterparts. Plus, it's mathematically impossible for everyone to "win" in capitalism. It's got nothing to do with race. But has everything to do with the core idea of capitalism that only those that endure the struggle will be able to seat themselves among the elite.

KonceptAs someone that's paying my own taxes this actually pisses me off more than it should.

No wonder the US is drowning in debt.

Yea I agree. This is a drop in the bucket compared to the literally 6.5 trillion dollars missing from the Defense Department budget. How is that possible, 1/3 of our countries debt went missing into unknown defense projects? How much of that was spent on black opps and propaganda campaigns?

-------------

Also I mentioned the Vietnam war as an example of a false flag / gross misinformation from the government to sway popular opinion on war related issues. Another possibly better example would also be Operation Northwoods, a declassified government document where our government thought up a plan on how to gain the support of the American people so they could invade Cuba. They literally openly discussed and documented several popular plans including staging shootings in the street from Cuban's, sinking of American ships by Cuban's and flying commercial planes into buildings and blaming it on Cuban terrorists.

I’m well aware that rt can be a Russian propaganda machine, however before posting it I found basically the same content on multiple other news sites, but the rt was probably the most well-known so I used that source.

Racism in colonial America was promoted by the rich upper class to separate the white indentured servants, who had been the main labor force in the colonies up until the 1680s, from the black slaves, who sort of took their jobs. The rich were afraid that if the two became upset with their treatment that they would band together and rebel against them, so they began discriminating against the black slaves through things like the slave codes, which also served to easier control the slaves. They also began giving the white workers more favors to further distance the two work forces.
I don't think that racism and capitalism are as closely linked anymore as Biskuit thinks, I believe that it may have used to be that way.
