on a more serious note ive been finding it helpful to listen to ambient stuff, post-rock, jazz and instrumental hip hop
in order to find music i usually just look at the top releases on rym within a given genre or use pandora/spotify
post rock: mogwai, this will destroy you, explosions in the sky, godspeed you black emporer, sigur rós, talk talk, el ten eleven
instrumental hip hop: basically everything by madlib (if you're really into him this guide might help), j dilla - donuts, dj shadow - endtroducing, private press, rjd2 - ghostwriter, nujabes
ambient: aphex twin (havent listened to much else tbh)
jazz: louie armstrong, miles davis, coltrane, dave brubeck, thelonious monk, bud powell
avalanches and boc are also super good hard to put them in a genre since their stuff is so distinct

listen to rain sounds
google "study music"
dont listen to things with lyrics
if you listen to stuff with lyrics there is not much point in studying as you dont remember anything
also turn the music down really quiet just so it removes ambient background noises

my fun playlist (warning has a couple joke songs in it) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR99gPlQ3VadGa03bUwUMsDIL-a671y5i
enjoy :)
edit: i should note that these playlists are a bit outdated from what i listen to now. i've started buying used CDs of classical music at bookstores and stuff, i'd recommend doing that a lot too.
edit edit: i should also note that because my major is in music i don't get to really listen to whatever while doing my homework or studying as often as i used to.
