people fucking sucked in 2013 and idk how ppl like smesi who probably started after s20 can even comment on this at all

? teams like playground tactics and tonights entertainment existed in open in 2013... a lot of those players were/are fucking incredible

pretty much look at s13 open playoffs and i gaurantee you that at least 80% of those players are much better than all of the people who play in open/90% of IM now

yeah they were good at the time for OPEN, if you compare how they did in open to the teams that are actually good in open now you'd have a much different scenario
a lot of the people on the teams you mentioned kept playing after that and kept improving and eventually played in the upper half of im and invite
of course they'd still be good, you don't really lose your touch in tf2

Although we can be sure platinum was by far a superior jumper.
Maybe they were better back then, maybe they weren't. Point is loads of the people who were invite at the time (and were therefore the reason these guys weren't in invite) are now gone, and that is a shame because they were cool

This simply isn't true. Go watch a vod or youtube of open/im playoff matches from s13-16 or whenever u think the game was at its best(outside of invite). It just doesnt hold up.

Not a lot of people use matchmaking because of the different rules they have (best of 3 rounds, no class limits) so it's not really the 6s we play. We still stick to the old rules for the leagues and stuff.

Also, the elo system is not good (no placement matches) and some people are connecting to servers that are halfway across the world. They are however working on fixing the elo system (http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=23496) and they've been working on putting people on the right servers similar to how the DotA 2 Reborn update made server connections work.
