So with the pyro update right around the corner, do you guys think it is possible that pyro will be balanced into a class that could have a place in the 6s meta? I know this is a long shot but I thought it would be fun to discuss. For example if the flamethrower gets turned into a weapon that requires more aiming and airblast is fixed, do you think pyro could become something that could sort of play the role of pocket? If you don't think so do you think there are any changes valve could implement to make pyro a viable choice in 6s or do you think the class is doomed to only be used as a specialist class? I was just curious what the community's thoughts on this were, and what you guys are expecting from the update.

If they removed afterburn, made the flamethrower into an LG, completely revamped airblast to not totally arrest momentum, and gave the Pyro a decent movement technique, then sure, that'd be cool

I don't know, but I personally have no issue with certain classes being used only in certain situations.

Pyro has absolutely no advanced movement mechanics. He'd be a better specialist, but there's no way in hell he'll ever be a generalist. He's too slow and he'll still probably be way too annoying and un-fun to play against.

It would need a buff in damage as, currently, it has worse damage than almost every class in close quarters combat.

give the detonator its beta jump and pyro would probably become a bit more viable. fun to play against? that will never happen

Would it be possible for someone who runs a server with custom weapons to actually add an LG-like flamethrower onto their server to try it out? That would give us a much better idea of how it plays in-game
