The ZBryan Rollout

I heard in a cast on Gullywash week that ZBryan has a gunboats rollout that gets him to mid around the same speed of a demo doing the "B4nny" rollout. Is there a video somewhere of this rollout, or just an explanation?

I know what the rollout is, and it will be kept a secret forever. Seriously though, if you wanna know what it is, you can add me and I'll tell/show you. I dunno of any videos.

this might be what you're looking for,

it's a little hard in terms of grabbing the health packs

I think he's asking for a video or explanation of zbryan's gunboats rollout on Gullywash that allows you to kill the demo at choke before he can grab the pack.

you do a jump from right door to lower main door, and then do a pogo turn right at the fork. then a jump off the left side of the sliding door, and from there do whatever you want.

Wait a minute.... Why is MR_SLIN's name pink, in other news.

Doing a fast rollout for gully wouldn't be that hard. If anyone has the time, they could get the STV, and watch each rollout. Maybe record it at your own discretion.

If you're a roamer, and you're asked/want to do a fast roll out. It might be for several reasons, get more pressure on the demo early. The only other option I see this being useful is when the demo keeps getting attacked by the scouts and the solider is there to keep them off of his back for awhile.

Here's a video I made demonstrating said rollout. All I can do without demos of me playing Gullywash.

There are 3 purposes for this rollout and assuming the demo goes through choke and the combo goes up banana/elbow/whatever, then all three of these purposes will come into play all at once. Well, hopefully.

The first purpose of this, and really the main reason for this rollout, is to drop the demo before he can literally do anything. If done properly, you'll drop the demo before he can touch the health kit. Because of this, you'll be able to pick up that health kit and regain that ~100 health you're missing.

The second purpose is denying them health, so if the medic takes a lot of damage from a team mate, then you can hopefully finish the job. This works the other way around too - if you don't drop the medic but damage him enough for some spam to do the job, then have your team collapse on them without endangering your medic.

The third purpose is being able to wait for the medic and drop him once he's between the entrance and choke and banana/elbow/whatever. The one way this can be countered is if 1) scouts getting the call that you're up there, but they're easy to deal with. If they're being a problem, then go down drop down, wait a couple seconds, jump back up. Take the health kit again for more health and then drop the medic if you can. 2) Combo getting the call and knowing you're still behind them and constantly keeping tabs on you. Instead of dropping the medic then, distract for your team.

Sorry for the lack of a round timer. Apparently Lawena's HUD option "full" doesn't show it. Just imagine you getting there as fast as the demo when the demo is going as fast to mid as possible through choke.

You can do it even faster than kirby if you time the jump at :08 right. There is way to jump straight into the metal door so you prolly save like .5-1 second max, but everything matters on mid!

You're correct. It wasn't the best jump, but it gets the job done for the most part. Well, if you're not going up against b4nny or any other incredibly fast demo.

You're relying on getting the demo kill for both these to come into play, and that demo kill is far from guaranteed. You're relying on waaaay too much to go as planned.

It's a gimmick rollout that might win you one or two mids per scrim/match. Fast gunboat routes to mid are suicide unless you're playing some seriously garbage scouts and a slow ass demo

Also, you're not denying the enemy team any health other than that initial demo pack, assuming you get that kill AND deny him the pack... the pack is getting taken either way how are you denying their team the pack??? Unless you're just chilling in that choke the whole mid, in which case you already won the mid for your team with the demo pick and they probably aren't committing their med

Third purpose... "you already won the mid for your team with the demo pick and they probably aren't committing their med"

The whole point of this kind of shit is to insta-win mid by surprising and gaying the fuck out of the demo, at which point your follow up strats are useless. If you die w/o getting that demo, your team is 5v6 before your combo can even get there

Also it's a fairly hard gunboat rollout to hit 100% of the time, and even when you do you have 100hp. Gully is the easiest demo rollout and you can bet your ass you just lost your team mid if you show up too slow for the demo kill

zbryan mastered this rollout like 5 seasons ago, yet he hardly uses it. pretty telling

Oh yeah, and this rollout is useless with regular rocket launcher. Demo hears you jump at him.

I think people should already know that you can't rely on doing fast gunboat rollouts 100% of the time, considering a) consistently doing them will take a shit ton of work, if even that and b) they'll catch on sooner or later and end up just going big door (Gullywash, obv).

I think we can agree that if there are fast rollouts, people would want to know them. Doesn't help to mention this thread was specifically for said rollout.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't say what I said, let alone make this video implying that it's guaranteed to work or that it's even something you should consider doing every round. Like I said above, they'll catch on and it's easy to counter fast rollouts considering you're alone for long enough.

Sorry kirby didn't mean to bash on you, just wanted to make it clear for people that this is a gimmick.

If you're going for this play, the mid is won/lost before either combo even shows up

I wasn't offended or anything. I was letting you know that I agree with what you said :)

I would advise that teams leave this to situations where you think it's best to take a risk because you need to, not because you want to.

high risk high reward plays like this on mid are such a shot in the dark as roamer, especially if its based around you hitting a fast, clean gunboat roll out

you can bet your ass the other team is gonna play you like a fiddle if you try it more than once

this is essentially correct however you have to do it better than that in order to actually beat a fast demo, let alone "banny". I used to do this in IM but it got to the point where demos were too quick and i was just a hair slow because i would screw up one jump or another and eventually be useless.

I've used similar jumps to the one in the video Kirby posted (mostly because I have left hand viewmodels and they are really natural/efficient for me to do) but I can't really testify that it's a legitimate strategy.

I'd like to clarify A few things. This rollout does not beat the enemy demo to mid, If both parties perform their rollouts perfectly. It pretty much puts a rocket on the demo right after he picks up the kit.

Also I wouldn't say the purpose of this rollout is to insta-win mid. It can win insta-win if the demo is at all slow on his rollout, but I primarily use it to prevent the demo from getting free damage on our team coming out of big choke. With both my scouts following up and the demo locked out until the med kit respawns we have a great advantage from then on.

Kirby's video demonstration is nearly perfect.

I have no experience doing this against fast demo players, but against slower demos it works amazingly well if you don't mess up at all.
