If it's near the coast and not dead center of the state, that could be cool. Having a trip to the beach before/after LAN if it's not too far is always a good idea.

Just out of curiosity...why does it matter where it's at?? Plane tickets suck no matter where you go right now. Is it just due to there being more west coast players going to LAN, or the fact that RI itself isn't much of a draw?

Texas flights are on average more expensive than most other areas, even though it's a HUB. Hell, just make it in Ohio. Cheap flights since it has two major hubs (Cleveland and Columbus) and renting halls are very cheap. There are soo many hotels in Columbus.
