C9 could be denied by Subroza
Nip isn't even there either, still playing with Friberg while cucking Maikelele

actually unbelievable. woke up this afternoon thinking that all of the matches except c9 vs clg were clear who would win and I actually let out the loudest laugh when I saw the NiP got dominated by some random nobodies.

I don't even watch CS and I'd like to see an analysis of how that happened. Did the underdogs just do some really stupid shit and got lucky? Did NiP just choke? I'm curious

NIP played really bad, not to say vega didnt play well, they did especially mir but nip were not at their best. NIP's traditionally best two players f0rest and Get_right went 8-17 and 2-18 respectively
.
Vega were kind of a wild card as NIP wont have played much if ever against them so they wont know how they play and that may have caught them out a bit but that doesnt excuse this performance.

underdogs overperformed massively, overdogs didn't perform at all. Nip is a team of legends, but their form is a sine wave and they lack identity. They also refuse to sign Maikelele on a permanent basis, the guy who imho gave it to them with an aggressive touch, because they refuse to kick anyone of their core 4, even if they haven't performed in months. They're essentially a team fueled by nostalgia

Stop it already, Cache stopped being one of NiP's strongest maps months ago already.
Really don't know what's got into them though. That only goes to show how fucking broken the system to get to a major is : Flipside and Gambit are legends while NiP won't even be there and yet are arguably a much stronger team.

if nip wanted to be legends maybe they could have, i don't know, beat flipsid3 in a bo3???
or they could have won this match and progressed to the next stage???????
also i think you're underestimating gambit

I agree on the cache statement while they did beat SK on cache but that is/was sks 1st ban.
And I can see where you can say gambit are a worse team with them getting an easy two bo1 for the legend spot but I think flipside are a better team than nip most of the time. I know NIP can be a very good team sometimes but most of the time I would say flipside are better just because nip are so inconsistent you cant judge a team on their best performances only

Too bad NiP is not my favourite team. You gotta admit there's a problem when teams like Flipside and Gambit are already qualified while NiP, G2, Dignitas, Immortals all have to go through the qualifier to get to the major.
The "They just had to win against FlipSide" excuse is pretty bs to me. This was months ago. After Cologne, dignitas won Epicenter, NiP won IEM Oakland, Optic won ELeague and yet all those teams had to qualify while Flipside and Gambit, who had no notable results during that time span, already have their place in the major.
This whole "Legend status" is bullshit and should simply be abandoned imo.

pendagambits not that bad tho
Yes, I agree, but imo their lack of significants results makes them a team less deserving of a major spot compared to the likes of dignitas, Optic or NiP who all won big tournaments recently. Doesn't necessarily imply they don't deserve a spot at the major though.

the alternative to the legends system is to either have all teams go through the qualifiers or have valve directly invite teams, both of which aren't really better

direct invites wouldn't really be that bad, they do well with that in dota.

if nip loses to a vega squadron in the qualifier do they really deserve to be there
nip had so many chances to be at the major but they blew them all.

No, I don't. Everyone played with the same rule-set and had THREE chances to qualify. How about Envy? They went 0-2 and still qualified, while NiP lost to random russians because they are incapable of getting their head into the game and winning 3 games out of 5. THREE OUT OF FIVE. It's their faults they fucked themselves, I can write you an essay of how NiP especially has been going downhill for a while now. If teams truly deserve to be at a MAJOR, they will make it no matter what. They are PRO players for a reason.
Perhaps you would like the alternative and have online qualifiers like Dota does for TI? Would that be more fair? You lose a bo1 and you are fucking out, I'll petition with you for that system so we can never see NiP at a major again, yes? EG made it to TI through the online qualifier so its doable dude, let's fucking go BO1 or out.

What you don't seem to get is that I believe that NiP should never have had to go through qualifiers.
You're literally saying FlipSide is more deserving of a major spot than all those top 10 teams who had to earn their spot through the qualifiers. FlipSide, it's not even a top 20 team. At the moment the way you can get to the major is different based on the results you had at the last major. Which took place in last July. And as I said already during that time span, dignitas won Epicenter, NiP won IEM, Optic won Eleague, right now they're all legit top 10 teams and yet their place at the major wasn't guaranteed because of results they had MONTHS AGO.
The fact of the matter is, NiP is currently a top 10 team, so are dignitas, Optic and G2, and they still had to qualify. Since they won IEM Oakland their results haven't been particularly good, but NiP is still a top 10 team, whether you like it or not. And they won't be at the major. Same for Immortals, they're probably top 15 and they didn't make it.
Why wouldn't Valve invite teams to the major based on their recents results ? We'd only be guaranteed to have strong teams. Don't we want the very best teams in the world at the major to give us the best show possible ? This is not something we can have with the current Legends system. If I were to consider the HLTV ranking, which I don't really like, 6 out of 10 teams in the top 10 had to qualify. Way to give us the best show possible.
I could also bring up fnatic's case : they changed 3 of their players and yet retain their major spot ? This isn't nearly the same team as the one that made the semi-final of ESL One Cologne. I really fail to see the logic of this system.
I'm sick of arguing with you, so I'll just redirect you to Thorin's video on that matter in which he explains his point of view on the legends system.
