Wasn't there supposed to be some major pyro update some time around christmas? As far as I can tell nothing changed and I can't find any info on an update. Was there any announcement, was it postponed or did it turn out just another hat update?

There was an update, but you can only see it if you enter pyroland.

It was announced around the time of the Halloween update that there would be smaller holiday updates so that the dev team could focus on building "an all-new Pyro Pack, improvements to Comp Mode, and a big new update and campaign." While many, including me, assumed the Pyro update would be dropped shortly after the voting in the Meet your Match update concluded, it is now clear that these major updates will more likely be arriving in early-mid 2017.

Oh I see. Thanks Mr. b4nny. That's good news, I'm glad it wasn't just a hat shakedown. Hopefully, this means they are actually working on the update everyone is waiting for.
If they take this long to work on the pyro pack, who knows, maybe flamethrower mechanics will actually change?

no-one said that the pyro update would come before christmas
and it kinda defeats the point of a vote to release one of the updates if they have both ready to go shortly after the vote

there was a post on reddit made by a 12 year old who didnt want the pyro update to come out on christmas.
as you prob know tf2 team balances the game around reddit posts, so it figures.

bottom line is, update is coming, but we're gonna have to wait. How long? Who knows.

I hope the update is released soon. I literally only win as Pyro against Heavies if I have a pocket Med poking me in the back with his medigun. and the Heavy is alone in an enclosed area and doesn't get random crits. Also, "random" crits my non-existant unusual.
