any PoE fans hyped for this announcement?
game is going to have 10 acts and no varying difficulties so you don't replay any of the acts
the first new act they are releasing you return to your home city where you were exiled from, pretty excited about seeing that

Wtf are they really adding 6 new acts???
It took them like months to make act 4 how the fuck did they make 6.
Thank god the difficulties are gone.

Not sure if it was that great of an idea to add them all in 1 expansion, I didnt play this league because I was waiting for act 5, if they just added an act every expansion they would get so many more players.

Ofc they remade the UI AGAIN lmao.

Really hyped about this and I will definitely play this now that I dont have to play scrims anymore :D and It's in the holidays too which is amazing.

edit: Ok I get now why they added 6 new acts, they basically "remade" the first 4 acts, but you do go in different routes and you do different things, but in order for this to work they had to do every single act so yea 6 acts does make sense.

looks like they're headed in the right direction for the game, but i agree they probably shouldn't have dropped 6 new acts in one update when it took them so long to even release act 4
might finally start playing again

Super hyped, having to beat the campaign 3 times for a new character to be viable for endgame content is one of the biggest drags of playing for me, and im sure most people feel the same. Curious as to how they're going to manage things like bandits and labs, but I'm sure they'll be able to squeeze those in somewhere in the 6 new acts lol.

announcement was way bigger than ever imagined, so that's sick

All these new acts are actually "remixed" acts 1-5; you'll be going through mostly the same locales as you return to Wraeclast at the end of act 5, but they will look different, have different/new enemies and completely new story and locale progression to reflect your impact on the game world. This may seem lazy to some, but I think this is brilliant for a few reasons:

  1. From a game production perspective, this is a massive boost to production time, and it looks like the currently map exclusive tilesets they've added in Atlas of Worlds were actually made to be used in these new "remixes".
  2. In terms of story progression, as someone who's played through those three/four acts over and over again in the past years, I will be actually interested to see what happens in those places after the universe-impacting events in act 4 and (presumably) act 5, and I don't doubt that many PoE veterans feel the same way. (Again, to someone who picks up the game in 3.0 this may seem lazy - come on, I've seen these places already! Blatant asset recycling!)
In terms of character development, Wraeclast has become a significant part of the exiles' lives and it made them the god-slaying machines that they are, so it makes sense that they are willing to return to it despite escaping their exile in act 5 (and I assume that not everything is peachy in Oriath). I do wonder if there still will be room to explore more of the PoE universe in future major expansions, though.
  3. Two build defining moments currently revolve around having three difficulties and/or endgame - the bandit quest and the Labyrinth. Balancing those around two difficulties + endgame instead would've been pretty awkward, so they're doing away with the concept entirely since eventually eliminating difficulties was the plan to begin with.
It will be interesting to see how they treat Lab though, as you will still only return once to its location in your playthrough. I'm guessing they'll change it to three ascendancy points for act 3/8 lab and keep two points for endgame. People who hate doing Lab will be very pleased. Bandit quest equivalents will probably be in acts 5 and 8.

Also, the details of Legacy league have been all but confirmed. You'll be able to run three leagues at once! Madness! I sure am glad to be going softcore next league. What a brilliant way to salute this era of PoE.

as a heads up the steam version has a history of occasionally sucking dick at updating the game properly so id recommend the standalone client over it. It also runs better but theyve put a lot of effort into improving performance recently so that may not a big difference anymore.

Very hyped!

I have a busy semester atm so probably skipping Legacy league and returning in July to play 3.0.
I might go SSF for the first playthrough during the acts and stop being SSF when I'm at endgame. It'll probably be the most enjoyable way to experience all the new stuff (for me at least)

Why not just go in blind? I still remember my shitty lvl 50 marauder with like 7 active skills, good times.

going in a blind is an experience but to be honest I would always recommend following some sort of build to start. the games passive tree can be complex at first and if you spend a ton of time on your character then realizing your character cannot clear content without re making or spending a ton of regret orbs, it can suck pretty bad.
check out this site if you're new. just look for builds that specify it's for beginner or low budget

Following a build guide when you have no clue what's happening is the #1 best way to continue having no clue what's happening. Furthermore, 99% of guides for good builds will ignore levelling/budget gearing, which confuse the hell out of new players (I spent part of Breach "introducing" someone to the game). Unless you have someone more knowledgeable about the game sitting in mumble explaining everything constantly, you'll make just as many mistakes following a build guide as you would on your own, except you'll have no clue why.

No matter how bad of a build you end up making it'll get through merc and low tier maps if you're not retarded, and you'll get a reference point regarding what content/archetype you want to play.

If anyone's looking to get into the game, feel free to add me to ask about stuff, I'm pretty much done with the current league but I've played almost everything at some point or another.

There are many build guides catered to beginner players that specifically mention why they use the things they do. Sure, talking to someone who knows the game while you're playing is probably the same, but you aren't giving good guides enough credit.

i feel legacy league is super lazy but it is a good way to get new players, which there are many of, to experience paths past before a game changing update, like 3.0. i 'm not playing it myself but i can see why people enjoy it.

I think it just shows how underwhelming some of the past leagues were compared to breach. A lot of the leaguestones feel really lazy, easy and unrewarding.
All in all I like it a lot though, offers a lot of options to put on maps.
Unfortunately I don't have as much time as I had in breach league so it feels worse to me because my progression is much slower :(

i like legacys options but its a chore to manage all the leaguestones and the shit you get from them

The foil uniques were the big chase items but actually running reliqueries is more or less a complete waste of time

I played a bit before breach but never very seriously, breach was the first league I got 90+ and it was amazing. A lot of people have been telling me breach was the best yet
