Premiership team ChampGG.K! finally bit the dust just before the Season 26 Premiership Playoffs, ending their year long tenure.
ChampGG.K! was full of potential throughout its lifetime, forming as Team Infused back in Season 23, and featured Dennia, Hank, Thaigrr, Quik, adysky, and skeej in their first lineup. For most of the team’s finishes throughout their run at the highest level of European TF2, they placed around 5th-6th in the ETF2L Premiership in 2016.
Their LAN run that year was almost identical to their ETF2L performances. In Season 24, they renamed to Comfortably Spanked, and replaced Quik and Thaigrr with vani and T0m respectively. With the new lineup, they finished 4th at DreamHack Summer 2016 and finished 5th-6th at Insomnia58.
After i58, adysky and T0m were joined by four new members - Funs, Maros, DamnEasy and Turbo, for Season 25 in the form of ChampGG.K!. In the last iteration of the team in Season 26, Thaigrr returned to replace DamnEasy, and the replacement of adysky and T0m for spudd and Silentes came later in the season. They placed 3rd in the regular season before their eventual death, forfeiting on what would've been their first ever playoffs as a team.
Resident scout Funs shared his thoughts about his team’s demise:
I think what's happened to the team is a massive shame and could probably have been avoided. People just seemed to lose interest towards the end of the season, to the point where it was questioned whether it would even be worth playing in the playoffs. In the end we just decided that rather than play with two mercs and an additional two new players to the roster, it would just be more fair to give our playoff spot to the next deserving team, Lowpander. At the end of the day I just don't think we were happy with how we were playing, despite making changes to the roster, and it was this lack of motivation that finally killed the team for us.
ChampGG co-owner erynn also said a word or two about the situation:
We are disappointed with how this season ended for us. We were looking forward to seeing the team do well and achieve their goals. We wish all our players success with their future teams and good luck to all teams in playoffs.
The other co-owner of ChampGG, tsc, shed some cryptic light on their team and sponsorship program for the future:
One vision, two teams, and three seasons. So far. More to come. We guarantee it.
The late lineup of ChampGG.K! consisted of:
