Looking for a fun game that is cheap (no more than $10). I was thinking Reflex or quake live but I don't know if Reflex is still alive. I know QL still has players but I'm open to more suggestions. Looking for Multiplayer FPS but single player recommendations are welcome.

I found this really cool free to play game with a sizable and active community. It is by Valve and is called Team Fortress 2

Personally I would wait for the steam summer sale(if you're willing to wait and want to save $$$) and get both QL and Reflex during that time. QL went down to $2.50 last time if I recall.

HL, HL2, HL2 episodes, Dishonored (not FPS but still a great first person action), Portal, Fallout New Vegas, F.E.A.R, Doom 2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Multiplayer FPS games I can think of below $10 off the top of my head:
Day of Defeat, Insurgency, Battlefield 2

if you're willing to shell out the extra five bucks, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is godly.
otherwise i'd say Terraria, FTL, and golf with friends are all good 10 dollars or less games.

Shooters:
Serious Sam First Encounter and Second Encounter are both excellent and frequently under 10$ (6$ each on GOG right now)
if you can find any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games on sale they are some of the best single player fps games ever. Clear Sky is only 10$ normally but is the worst of the three (still good)
E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy is simply amazing, offbeat fps/rpg hybrid with not much story but lots of possible approaches and replayability
Postal 2 is fun but hasn't aged that well
RAGE is only 10$ now, and while kind of short and not amazing is still a fun game
Hard Reset is 15$ so watch for a sale, very fun shooter with an old school feel, don't get the Redux version though it's not as good

I've also been really enjoying rogue-lite shooters like Ziggurat, Immortal Redneck and Tower of Guns lately, but they are all 15-20$ right now so again watch for a sale on steam or GOG
