Looks like this update focuses on casual, so who cares. I just want this update to come out, so we can stop hoping that Valve will fix matchmaking, and stop trying to appease them.
hes doing really good work with this vid and his vinyl vids... compared to his older stuff, i hope he keeps it up its good
there's a lot of people that don't want to watch VNN so I'll make a tl;dr
Valve was playtesting the new jungle map on a private Casual server along with some of the Saxxy winners from this year. They were invited to come to Valve HQ.
VNN interviewed the TF2 team and will be making a video on that soon (I doubt this'll include questions about comp. Will probably be more centered around the pyro changes/jungle map)

I have zero hopes for matchmaking, I'm only interested in this update for the chance that they'll balance some weapons and maybe introduce some good changes to pyro. Really doubt they'd compromise on stuff like class limits that is absolutely necessary for MM 6s to be worth playing.

inb4 its that jungle pl map that exists for a decade

It will not matter. Pyro will never be viable in 6s, the concept of Pyro is broken. So the impact will be minimal. And if they somehow do massive changes to make it viable, it will be ban instantly, since noone thinks Pyro makes 6s better. It has too low of a skill ceiling. And we all know Valve knows jake shit about weapon balance, so at the most we will have to clean up their mess, with a new white-list.
It will be a pointless update for comp.

Adding skins for non-stock weapons surely will make the game run much smoother!

I don't really give a shit about bringing pyro to 6s, if they can make the class a bit better to play with and against I'm happy

pyro being a viable generalist in 6s without being complete aids to play against is literally the best possible outcome - why would we ban that instantly?

is there another one?

Shouldn't they all have been in SFM instead of TF2 then?

YppYstuff
so you don't want another viable 6s class? you do realize that hinders the gamemode's growth instead of making it more inclusive, which has been the goal has been since valve got involved with comp tf2?
also the guy you replied to said nothing about making pyro viable so

I think it's just a very difficult goal to achieve. Especially because you run the risk of valve making pyro viable but still aids which would be the worst possible outcome. But if they can pull it off that'd be great

I don't think it's beyond their reaches to make competitive matchmaking at least decent, as long as they manage to introduce a working skill rating system it should get some growth
all it would take would be some kind of skin drop thing and people would probably play it
if by some absolute miracle we get a good version of pyro it might even be worth the year long wait

They invited the Saxxy winners over because that's the prize for winning the Best Overall category. It's a 1 day visit, making an SFM short takes MUCH longer than that. In the past they had Saxxy winners record some minor mo-cap for Expiration Date, but that was just for the lolz and chances are it didn't even get in the final thing.

if you think about it, if they just remove the config restrictions, add an elo system and placement matches as they've promised to do and add class limits mm won't be THAT bad anymore and could serve to actually introduce new players to 6s.
why do people dislike him so much that they don't even want to click his video?

Yea, one i played way back on custom map community servers http://gamebanana.com/maps/86128 pl_jungle
considering how landfall was put in as a new map, but in team fortress 2 classic (which used the original beta engine + scrapped weapons that were originally shown like the nailgun) and had a pool of unused maps in the release version... including landfall.

I personally don't mind him too much, but I believe a lot of the frustration comes from him getting a front seat in communication with one of the least communicative gaming companies out there.
He arranged an interview with Gabe Newell and now also the TF2 team apparently and in the meantime the TF2 comp community (seemingly) doesn't get listened to. I can see how that frustrates some people, especially on TFTV.
Also his videos obviously attract that hiveminded circlejerk that freaks out whenever Valve says or does anything. So some people probably see his retarded fanbase and assume that VNN must be the same type of person.
From what I've seen people say who know him personally he's a really cool guy though and puts a lot of effort into what he does

The way he talks is awful but fair play to him for making this content and providing the info.
Good stuff.

No because I thought they were showing the theme (the map, new item's etc) but apparently the Saxxy winners get invited every year so I guess I was wrong.

First, as I said, the concept of Pyro is broken. It would take the removal of the flamethrower to fix it, and well then it would not be the Pyro anymore would it? So what I'm saying is that any change that would make Pyro viable in 6s, would still leave the flaws of Pyro, which is why people would then ban it. Second if 4hp was just talking about small changes, that would not make Pyro viable, then what is the point form a comp standpoint? Because I certainly don't think it will make a difference in the 30 seconds of playtime Pyro sees in a 6s match.

If Valve truly cares, don't you think we would have seen these changes a long time ago? Why wait.
Well they are busy making non-stoke weapon skins...
