A tournament in 2018. What do you guys think? How should valve fund this project? If Gaben was sitting in front of you and asked you "Hey TF.Tv regular how should i do dis?" Should he go instead to redit.com/r/ tf2 where people are more open about playing prolandeR? is prolander the future of tf2? is tf2 dying? Thanks for opinons
remove not essential unlocks, nerf scout, do not troll, tryhard more, lol hl and maybe this game will get exciting to watch again
the thing is a valve major in tf2 would bring an unbelievable influx of people watching/playing the game, old pros returning and people remembering tf2 and wanting to play it like we all do when we see airshots on stream, it actually would be the saviour of tf2 tbh, but they just need to make mm good so people can replicate it.

That would require Valve to:
A. Develop a good 6's ruleset (and no they're not going to use our's because they're a bunch of stubborn fucks)
B. Actually set up a major
C. Actually give a shit about TF2's competitive scene besides throwing a bone and keeping as it their dumb casual hat game

The only use you could get out of Valve is official exposure, but which won't amount to much when people play the game primarily for hats and memes. Unlike Quake or CS, there is no ingrained competitive culture in TF2. This is a game where the average user comes in to do "friendly pootis heavy xd" and trade their absurd hats that spit on the game's original art direction. People who don't play the game also do not take any competitive facet seriously precisely because of how childish the mainstream image has been for the past several-something years.
With no audience comes no ad revenue. No money means no company is going to waste any real time and effort into it. They're also arrogant fools who discredit the balancing work achieved from years of competitive metagame evolution. The only "major" in any Valve-backed TF2 tournament would be its use as an adjective preceding the word "disappointment".
Make yourself comfortable in this niche that passionate and hardworking people have put together, because it's the most we'll ever see.

According to several articles, polls, and other data i have read so far, 90% of people that know of tf2 (players and non players) think of hats when they think of tf2. It is an 8 year old conditioning. my guess is that 20% of current tf2 players know of Competitive tf2, less proportion actually play competitive, less proportion play 6s and even less proportion play ESEA. Making a Valve tournament catering towards the autistic and elitist circle jerks that exits in ESEA and tf.tv is bound to be a failure just by the numbers. I suggest just to give up altogether to look for anything Valve related, or embrace the prolander. Prolander is hot on reddit even though most of you hate it since it is not elitist. I say give up and just enjoy the little fun we can get out of this. Stop being in denial. TF2 will never EVER be anything bigger than a hat pootis simulator. Just enjoy what it is now. It is current state might live for very long. but it will never be any bigger than it s current state.
I would highly consider murder if it meant getting an official Valve Sponsored tournament. OW pretty much confirmed that the only reason TF2 ins't a popular E-Sport already is because no one seems to know it exists...

Dear Diary. Today i learned that wanting your favorite game to be popular is a bad thing.
In all seriousness; I would expect people to want this as badly as i do, but everyone seems to be rather uninterested in the prospect...
