What are your thoughts on dead time? when the point difference is bigger than the amount of minutes left in the timer and you KNOW the match is already over.
Its kinda pointless, i was thinking it would be good to have a plugin to "skip" it in pugging websites like faceit.
Some kind of script in the 6v6 config that "checks" the difference in points between the two teams everytime a team scores, and if its larger than the amount of minutes left in the match, it ends the match right there.
For example, if theres 3 minutes left and one team scores 3-0 the match would end.
Would you be in favor of such measure?
How many minutes would it be wise to have per point ?

Yea it can be useful at time.
But some pretty funny stuff also happens during dead time.

From an older thread about dead time
HildrethAll of this can be done if the players wanted to, as servers in ETF2L are managed by players not admins.
Say you're 4-0 down with 5 minutes left - Yes it's still technically possible to win but you as a team decide it is not and want to move onto the next map. You can say "Good game enemy team, we concede" then type "rcon mp_timelimit 1" and the match will end - Take your screenshots and logs will be correct. Add a little explanation to the matchpage if necessary..
This concept of Dead time only exists because players don't think about ending prematurely during games, only people watching do. If you prompted people to do it, they would.
A "GG" button would be cool too but then again, I can forsee people misusing it and causing drama - I don't know about ESEA btw, no opinion on it.
I think nobody would be opposed to a config that automatically ends matches or a gg button but is there anyone who's willing to make it?

I think casters also need to stop sounding so bored and be more enthusiastic whenever theres a stalemate or trash time - they can use this time to talk more indepth about the teams and their strategies for example, it kind of makes an already more boring period of the game more boring and unenjoyable for people watching
imo being a little more "into" the game will keep newer viewers longer and make it more exciting and interesting for them

it might be good to maintain/get momentum, i think it was epsilon (i52 i think) that went super tryhard in garbage time (and in pregame iirc) gaining momentum to win second map

already exists but nobody is using it

edit: also ugc gives league score for every point scored even if you lose

I would not be in favor of this. I see way more potential downsides to positives. Just to list a few off the top of my head:
-Accidental or unintended uses that ruin a perfectly good game
-1 idiot trolling and wasting everyone time (abuse of the command)
-Sets a negative or defeatist attitude in-game, for example:
sageif there are 3 minutes left and one team scores 3-0 the match would end.
You may not be able to win the match, but you can win a round or more on any map currently in the rotation with 3 mins left. Giving up isn't in my nature so maybe my opinion isn't shared by many others but there are always things to improve upon as a team and a match setting (win or lose) is always the best place to improve.
Lastly, if a team wants to concede before the time limit hits, nothing at all is stopping all 6 players from leaving the serve rand exiting TF2. It is literally clicking 2 buttons to exit TF2. That the main reason I see no need for a command like this.

Yeah people don't take our game seriously anyway but let's be in favour of teams being forced to fuck around for 5 mins and force casters to talk about nothing for that duration :D

match points are used for playoff standings/seeding in most leagues. thats plenty of incentive for a team to get an extra round with the time remaining. it could potentially push them into playoffs

even in this situation, i'd rather keep the time then the match end as you could secure a round and make it 3-1 or so which is normally what i'd go for if there's no chance of us winning. better a 3-1 loss than a 3-0.

In etf2l at least, dead time can be used to boost tiebreaker scores, so killing dead time in theory could change those in playoffs.

We could potentially add it into the rules next season to say it's okay to do in ETF2L, depending on Valve to do it is silly, if you just manually enter a command to force the map to end it should be okay, long as it's screenshotted clearly to say the game has been conceded by Team A.
However I enjoy dead time personally!
Edit - Probably would not implement it as it can affect scores and we use round aggregates to decide tiebreakers sometimes.

in a BO3 / BO5 sitation (seven vs us @ ESA for example), the dead time if you know you already lost can give you time to refresh your mind and think about strats for the next map and talk about things that went wrong, not only that but as mentioned before if a team chooses to keep playing normally even if they've lost by means of time then they can even extract further info by trying things out in the downtime and see what works

depending on how leagues handle "Rounds Won" versus "Games Won" in the regular season, this could have issues. A 4-0 can still become a 4-1 or 4-2 for the losing squad, leading to tiebreakers as mentioned earlier.
The only downside to not having this is if a team with BM delays winning a map i.e. Gullywash Week Ascent (EVL) vs Faint Gaming where they waited for the respawns before getting the final cap. Kinda scummy but that's a different angle to this debate.
