I don't honestly think the deck matters that much in the end, as long as it's a proper brand or like not from the supermarket for 20£€$. So like any honestly should be fine, i don't know the skateboard shops outside Finland though.

used to skate back in 5th grade, been doing that for like two years or so, funny how so many people around here started in school then after some time just quit altogether
i was thinking of getting back to it the other day and we even got a skate park in our town but not only its primarily used as a drinking place by 98% of visitors most of them are also retarded children wearing thrasher but never stepped on board in their lives and i just dont like being around such folk; plus none of my friends are skating

Am skateboarding for like 9 years or more, am pretty shit tho since I started going to skatepark only a year ago and have not really been doing anything else than just cruising before. I have been a lot into bowl lately.
here is my setup: http://i.imgur.com/DSAM9hj.jpg . Sadly I broke the deck last week and now have some shitty one from my friend :(
I tried making the board into keycap:

and yes, these are longboard wheels, they are super comfy to ride, even in skatepark

I've been skateboarding 13 years. I was reckon I was pretty good as a kid, I won a few boards and stuff in the past, more stuff than I could win from tf2. Local council recently built a new park just outside my house so I've been skating a lot more this year. They replaced this

I love skating transition so this was great for me, I thought it's pretty good by Cornwall's standards anyway. Won some gear the other weekend at a skate jam they ran down there, inc a deck and trucks LQ pic, anyone skated a witchcraft board? never heard of them and my current is in pretty good shape rn, don't want to replace it just yet.

look at what pros are using. look for brands like anti-hero, primitive, element, fucking awesome, girl or if you could get your hands on it easily where you live (don't pay more than £50) palace is what i ride and recommend. for your first board, it might be a size that you in the end aren't really all that comfortable with so maybe ask the people in your skate shop if they could recommend one. if you're buying online, an 8 is the standard size but most i've seen are like 8.1, 8.2 and i don't really know the difference in feel, but i know people care about that stuff. i'd probably just go with an 8 regardless.
for trucks, the 3 brands are independent, venture and thunders. i use and have only used independent, which i hear the difference is that these trucks are heavier than the other two and also have a somewhat delayed turning, but they will last longer than ventures and thunders because they have more metal and when you're doing tricks you can feel more of your board. the only thing i know about thunders and ventures are that they are light and easy to turn with. the guy who worked at the skateshop i got mine from recommended thunders first, as a beginner, then ventures and then independent, but i just went for independent and i don't think it made skating any harder for me.
for wheels, all the shops i know carry spitfire and i don't really know the difference. i just guess spitfire is a solid choice. its more about the size, so i was recommended larger wheels so i could learn how to cruise first, which aren't nearly as big as longboard wheels, but a tiny bit larger than some people's at the park. i use these

and they're fine and have held up nicely. don't think they hold me back from doing tricks or cruising
your board should cost around £150. deck = 50, trucks = 50 and wheels = 25. do not ride in the rain

Basically you have to build your own instead of buying a complete one. The pre builds are almost always garbage.
You need a deck, trucks, hardware, wheels, bearings and griptape (and a skate tool).
I would get everything in standard size as a first board. That means 8" deck and 8" Standard height trucks. Wheels is a little more complicated but less important (I would just watch a video about it). Can't go wrong on hardware and bearings pretty much. How to build it has endless tutorial videos.
Don't expect to pay much less than 100 euros (or whatever currency) but your first board will be hard to break for you and trucks are the most expensive and hold forever.

Skateboarding is hard. I just recently got one from Target last week and had been trying to ride it, but I hurt my right wrist during a fall.

Don't let falling discourage you man, learning to fall correctly is a huge part of skateboarding too :)
I mainly cruise nowadays, but I used to love flatground ^_^

SwagiI hurt my right wrist during a fall.
In my experience your body gets used to taking hits and falls eventually. When I this summer first time skated just a bit, the first time in 2 years I fell and my wrist got fucked immediately(the hugs.tf match night) even though I obviously fell quite a bit as a kid.
Today I skated pretty tryhard and I fell quite hard-ish many times, I got both of my ankles pretty hurt but I'm used to that now so it doesn't stop me really, even if I have a massive bruise in my leg which for sure is going to take more hits I still skate.
TL;DR In my experience your body and especially wrists get hurt quite easily at first, but eventually your body gets used to taking hits and falls. You can't avoid getting bruises or hurt if you want to learn to skate.

I started skating 4 days ago, I thought it would be a good idea to step on one for the first time while drunk and it didn't end well !!!
Luckily once I can ride it comfortably there's some neat skate parks in my area =)

I bought dc's like 3 years ago and they are still kinda skateable with little use of glue, iirc they are dc pure tan leather but who knows.
btw I was on a skate trip this weekend and got this pic of me doing tail stop that I am really proud of.

Been skating on and off for about 4 years. there was a small skate-park around my high-school when i was in 11th grade but they tore it down because they were scared of it attracting drugs/bad behavior. a skate-park in AL is rare if it isn't for kids. im fuckin scared of deepass hills but im working towards it. <3 mall parking lots.

Wish I was to live in somewhere but Finland, we gotta skate car parking halls at winter, there's some indoor skateparks 30 minute train trip away but they're full of annoying scooting kiddos who get in way and don't look ahead at all. I don't generally have anything against scooters, but they can be really annoying at parks.
