ever since jungle inferno released, I've been getting random fps drops from about 300 to 150, is there anything I can do about this?
mastercomsWhat's your hardware specs, OS, config, temps?
i5-4460 4 cores, gtx 1050ti, windows 10, mastercomfig
gpu runs at about 80 F, cpu runs at about 87 F
before jungle inferno i was getting a stable 300-400 fps in dx9

those are my exact specs and i am having the EXACT same problem. everyone is telling me that tf2 is just poorly optimized. time for a new cpu i guess?

What version and presets/addons do you have for mastercomfig?
What are your launch options?
Do you run the game in windowed or fullscreen?
Have you disabled fullscreen optimizations?

I legit have same specs and it does drop in pubs but in actual games its like 220-300. Using comanglia's medium config

you sure you're reading those temps right? usually the temps are given in Celsius. I find it amazing if your cpu ran at ~30 Celsius while under load, especially with stock cooling which almost certainly what you're using.

If it's in fact 87 C and not Freedom units, then you're running pretty damn hot (hot enough to kick your CPU into throttling itself) and that's the cause of the stutter. You want your temps at 60 C or below under heavy load or you'll see performance drops.

60C is overkill at full load, intel cpu throttles at 100C if I remembered correctly.
but if not throttling, below 90C is safe. I would like my CPU a bit cooler tho like 85C max

My assumption is that if you can get a data point with the thing at 87 you're going to be going higher at least some of the time.
I'm not *that* familiar with newer Intel stuff, I mostly only buy AMD and as a rule they like to be colder. But even still if the 87 is indeed a C and not an F and it was just a random data point after playing tf2 for a bit, that's not good for the device regardless, especially if you do it every day for multiple hours lol.

Depends on the cpu series and if it's a desktop or laptop variant. Some throttle at. 80c others at 90c most shut off at 100c now iirc

i use maxperformance and i use the mastercomfig launch options w/ my resolution set at 1600x900 in fullscreen, just disabled fullscreen optimizations gonna see if it does anything now
honestly im starting to think just getting a better cooling fan will do the trick but idk
