This has always caused issues in source games, or atleast where mods for source games are concerned
often the vote for the next map is tied to the number keys, so if you have any binds or a cfg that utilizes these keys, they're automatically utilized to vote for a map I didn't even see and only briefly popped up for a fraction of a second.
I swear, that god damn method of map selection was the reason I had !revote bound to a key for nearly every valve multiplayer game
Anyhow to stay on topic, this might have been mentioned already, but I appreciate Soldiers/demos on MGE who don't prefire as soon as I respawn. I understand it's a valid tactic, and if it's like an MGE tournament for money or something that's fine, but this isn't quake dude, you don't need to practice spawn fragging people on blands spire

salamancer for starting it all (the international rivalry)
Mr slin, nuze and everyone else that does analysis/tutorial videos that introduce new players to the format and help somewhat experienced players get better
Any and all "pub" youtubers that give positive exposure to lans and the competitive community in general to a much wider audience than anyone else could
And last of all (and I know I'll get downfragged for this) everyone in the TF2Center developement team. They get nothing but negative attention but they've coded, updated and hosted the largest tf2 pug site for half a decade

if it weren't for tf2center i don't think i would have gotten into comp tf2, or at least a lot slower. it's easy to say 'join a team' but remember most of us legitimately have no idea how good we are after playing pubs for years. tf2center is a useful yardstick that says, "oh, yeah, i can play comp tf2 at some level, at least. time to start climbing."
