Interesting to look at the history of it, article here talks about other classic albums with seven or fewer tracks, and as they mention, albums with few tracks are "mostly the province of jazz, the AOR era and sludgy, sprawling metal." It's less common in the world of rap/hip hop/R&B, and certainly a rarity these days.

something that's really common with the hip hop scene lately is songs that are 1 and a half to maybe 2 and a half minutes long at the longest, and then having a large amount of songs. curious to see if these will be longer
