I've been playing TF2 for a while and have taken every single game mode seriously at some point. There are definitely some old school snipers that are overrated and most snipers today can easily smash however good the older snipers were. Anyway here's what I learned from the years;

Flow has probably been the best sniper I've ever witnessed, I'm pretty certain he was the first to set a record of >500 dpm in an official prem HL match, and was also a sniper of the season at some point. His aim with scout was also immaculate, but he was much more significant on sniper.

corsa wasn't even the best sniper on ascent last season..

I barely hit even a quarter as many shots I used to 2 or 3+ years. I dont think I’ve put even 50 hours on the class since I quit hl like 3 years ago :(
Like stark said, you can really only judge a sniper at the top level because it’s that much different. Recently and even for a bit, slemnish is the only na sniper who’s had multiple round winning shots against a top invite team when it’s mattered. He literally dropped shade last season in grand finals back to back where one of them was a nasty close range headshot, and got a ton of 2-3k entries
I didnt/dont really follow outside na much, but jukebox, sheep, and flippy were the true three outside na like stark said, but I think sheep and jukebox were on a different level

It's hard to really quantify as best. Some snipers are great under pressure at getting key picks in a stalemate. They;ll edge out the other sniper and then pick a med. And then you get others like Puoskari who will headshot five or six players in an open game to the extent that it's scary.
I suppose the first type are the more valuable ones.

If y'all are talking HL at all you better be including Paragon. Also a beast in 6s obviously but he and Max were in a league of their own at one time.
