Don't really understand the need to make this a news post. He's still on their active roster he's just not playing etf2l officials because they don't matter until playoffs by which point he'll be unbanned anyway.
The ban is practically meaningless.

TFTV has covered league bans before and I felt it was relevant. Though I do agree that it probably didn't warrant a full news post.

According to ETF2L, Thaigrr had failed to upload a demo three times for official matches during Season 29
This isn't actually true. It happened once during his time with Se7en/S29, the others were in previous seasons/teams and unbeknownst to us. Thaigrr will play playoffs when he's unbanned, the rest is a formality.

He'll be leaving for that in July. So he has some time to waste in the meantime

I checked in with an admin and this is true. The article has been corrected. Sorry for the mistake.

The ban is practically meaningless.
They remove Thaigrr from all his active rosters during the ban period so he isn't on any team and is ineligible to play any ETF2L matches in that period.
Whether 7 keep him or not when the ban expires is their prerogative.
When the ban expires on July 21st, the rosters will be locked as it will be beyond week 6 of the season when rosters look pre-playoffs so he can't be re-added to the roster until end of the playoffs.
However, assuming opponents agree, Thaigrr can merc after that date so he can still play any games on/after that date.
And 7 can, if they win prize money, pay him his cut as prize money is always distributed to a team leader and sorted out between the team externally from ETF2L admins.

Also future bans for not uploading demos will get longer and longer, so even if you think this one doesn't affect Thaigrr, next time its much more likely it will. I think that kinda works as motivation to upload demos.

I don't get it why do you guys care so much about every player uploading their own demos isn't that what STVs are for? Nobody legitimately thinks the guy cheats or anything do they?
I guess ESEA uses the client for anticheat purposes so that's why we don't have to do it but it still seems rather silly imo

The ESEA client is way too intrusive and I know that I would never want that on my PC, and for STVs, they have a much lower tickrate than POV demos and therefore dont show exactly what is happening on a persons' screen making it much harder to detect more subtle cheats.
Recording demos is easy, and you only have to upload them when requested, it is really not that difficult and anyone banned for it, deserves it.

bearodactyl...
what #25/#26 said + the rules have to be consistent across all players, making an exception for thaigrr would be unfair.

It's been mentioned countless times by AC staff the best way to spot a cheater is to use a POV demo as it's recorded client side and STV demos are server side. This is pretty basic stuff even a tech goof like me understands it.
But putting AC methods aside, no matter how effective they are, it's just in the rules and has been for donkeys years and people not uploading are either lazy, stupid or cheating.

But etf2l thought of that and thaigrr can now, after the new rules, only merc 3 games, before being considered a perma merc. So he cant play all the games.
