I oc'd mine to 165hz and I cannot tell a difference. I've heard that 144 to 240 is the same as going from 60 to 144, but not many games will reach 240 fps

if you can get the fps and can afford it why not, I think there are 400$ 240hz monitors out there. You also maybe go the refurbished route but I don’t know too much about monitors for me to reccomend going that way

I personally think a 144hz 1440p monitor would be better, but thats opinion.

Technically speaking it is, the higher the refresh rate the better, and if money isn't a concern then you might as well go for it, but IMO a 160hz monitor wouldn't be worth it, if you're going to go past 144hz you should either go for 180hz or 240hz

It doesn't really matter, I've always played with 60hz and everyone who has upgraded to 144hz from 60 said it's different but you don't just straight out improve. Also your eyes will eventually get used to the new refresh rate and if you had a better performance at the beginning, it will slowly decline, so I assume the same would apply from 144hz to 240hz. Unless there is some game out there that requires it, I wouldn't recommend upgrading.

its not just about "smoother image" or your 'eyes getting used to it' its about the input lag/frame delay as well. on 60 hz there's 16.67 ms between each frame, 120 hz that halves to 8.333, 240 that's down to 4.16 ms

depends for some people buddy, but, from my point of view, i stepped up each time i changed from 60 to 75 to 144 and then to 216 and finally 240 (don't ask me why 216), not dm-wise really (expect for hitscan which you can see quite an improvement) but mostly because you feel more confortable and you can focus less on your dm, and more about the other things, and because you're really focused on ultiduo, i assume you would think the same as me if you try.

Also, tracking-wise it gives visually a huge margin of progress that you can improve on

switching to 240 for me wasnt a massive difference.

it's noticeably smoother but it's not even close to the 60->120 gap.

when you flail around, things look more clear but thats basically it

if you make money spend it the way you want too. its your money. I just bought a 240hz because my 144hz is almost 4 years old and is scratched, so its annoying to play on so i got my moneys worth out of it. So i don't mind upgrading, i can make my money back.
i also got a nice tax refund i haven't used yet so i thought why not.

Yes, that is literally what refresh rate means.
Also, I used to play with 30hz before and going from 30 to 60 wasn't a great difference as well lol

You must have missed the first years of school if you can't properly read what I've typed. I said it wasn't a great difference, viz. one just gets used to whatever they play with for over 2-3 days.

For TF2? Probably not. This game doesn't run well enough to justify 240hz over 144hz on the vast majority of systems even with a graphics config.
