I apologise for this. I have edited the comment to include this tweet. i shouldn't have taken other peoples' words for truth without an direct statement from nursey or phorofor
(not trying to move the blame away from me by saying I heard it from others. It is up to me to make sure I don't make mistakes like this. I take full responsibility for this)
edit: I guess this started the rumor by someone misinterpreting this tweet

Didn't someone report him to his college for this supposed harassment? That's messed up if he didn't actually do anything.

It's a shame it took multiple high-profile cases for people to reconsider how the competitive scene deals with its behaviour problems, but I'm glad its finally happening and hope that there's real, permanent change as a result.
All the efforts made to get new players involved in competitive are wasted until the scene can shed its reputation of being the most vile, toxic part of the TF2 community, and I wish you all good luck in doing that.

Removing the prize money doesn't seem like a fair punishment at all. Punishing people who have done nothing wrong because they didnt voice an opinion?
"The team that gives a man like him these kind of powers cannot complain if they are held accountable for his actions."
Perhaps they didn't give elect to give him the powers perhaps they asked who wanted to schedule matches and he was the only one willing. You do not know why he was tagged as "leader" and it is entirely ridiculous that you think punishing the whole team for something committed by one player that occurred after the teams season had finished is in anyway justified.

Paprika_Assuming i have similar opinions to players who also played on nunya is also a form of discrimination. Do not label me if you dont know anything about me or what i stand for. I dont see people digging out old 3/6 players even though pred played for them. Its the same philosophy.
(From papi's tweet that he posted in another thread.)
Personally, no, it's not discrimination, I think it's misguided anger at worst. Although you are not guilty due to association one may still question why you associate with that type of individual OR why you do not voice your disagreements.

Stinson_OutFor the people thinking degu "only posted a picture": he also liked pred's tweet, showing that he did not only post a meme, he also openly supported the racist insult of his friend (acquaintance?). He made a conscious decision when he did both of those things.
Making an argument that liking something on social media means that you fully support it is kinda dumb. if you follow that logic then you are pretty much saying that all the people who ever liked something related to tragedies or terrorism on a site like facebook are fully in favor of tragedies and terrorism.
you can often see people liking a post on facebook that says "20 dead in recent shooting etc etc." not because they like that people died, but because they want to make it more popular for others to see.
I am sure that degu did not like the post/comment for this kind of reason, however if you are ever planning to stick with this kind of reason for bans you have to consider that it is going to be a very outrage/popularity depended system.
i pretty much agree with what muki said, ban pred and dont ban degu

this is more a matter of principle. i dont really care if they get banned or not. the problem is that similar situation can happen to any etf2l player next as long as there is enough outrage.
answering people who are against banning degu with "omgggg its only a month guyss why u care so muchh" thats not rly the point here. it doesnt matter if the ban is perma or 1 month. you are banning people purely out of outrage and pressure not the rules you made.

What a fucking joke
I'm not hating on Uberchain here, even though people lacking basic reading skills will surely think I am, however it's retarded that ETF2L and especially this community have ignored similar situations in the past and only now reacted to it because it is Uberchain. People talking about this never being acceptable under any circumstance are the same people that wouldn't have given a fuck if Pred and Degu would've harassed personXYZ instead, even if personXYZ would call them out for it publicly. This community surely isn't going to be better if people only care about a select few instead of everyone. Again, what a joke.
I do not understand what your problem is
They didnt get banned solely for harassing Uberchain, they got banned for harassement. Its not etf2ls fault the original thread was made and caused such a stir
And even if they were, you have to start somewhere so why in the hell not now when theres more than a good enough reason to do so
It was the straw that broke the camels back i suppose

maybe i missed it but i dont think anyone ever said "omgggg its only a month guyss why u care so muchh", even if they did it's not even the crux of the argument in favour of it
i told you to stop because you're performing logically invalid mental gymnastics by cutting ties to tweets about terrorism and mass shootings, in that case the analogy lies in liking a tweet that praises mass shootings and terrorism, not the coverage of it, but maybe you didn't see that the argument was that he liked pred's tweet, not uberchain's
the original argument does read a little shitty though
also i haven't taken up any position in this discussion so i dont know why you accuse me of arbitrarily banning people, i'm not even admin anymore

The interesting part about comments like these are, a lot of people say things like this, go back into their preferred mumble or discord and begin to start talking shit and using slurs where only select people can hear them. Is it okay to act like a saint only in public when you're being the exact person you're condemning in private?
I'm not calling out the person I quoted (don't know who he is) but, it's really hard to take comments like this seriously.

This is actually a joke. Pred and Degu represent like 60% of the people who play this game, mindless idiots who just exude malice constanrly. But, just because uberchain is more well known than your average pugger eating the brunt of these slurs, they get a ban? A decision like this sets a big fucking precedent, and if other players don't get similar punishments for similar actions, it'll be clear that major players in the community are just flexing their power to protect their friends.
just to reiterate, this isn't some fucked up backhanded shot at uberchain. i'm just upset at the way this situation was handled, because we both know admins care too little to actually ban every no name dipshit who dribbles out a slur, and despite what everyone is saying, change WON'T happen.
