Jump maps look so fucking cool. Why can't we have competitive maps that looked futuristic, alien, or like the inside of a house? I think this every time i watch jump movies or jump myself. Imagine how sick that'd be

I've actually been thinking about a similar thing recently. Someone in the ozfortress discord was talking about having a playground themed map, which sounds pretty cool, but I don't think it would really work based on tf2's art style, then again maps released in the invasion update were all space-y and the banana hat is a thing so what do I know.

i feel like surfing can get away with it because mechanically maps are usually very similar; you can make beautiful maps and then just slap ramps around them. Jumping on the other hand usually requires you to use walls/floors/platforms, so making that look appealing is a bit tougher. Not to mention skyboxes and bright lighting is usually shunned because it makes judging your speed difficult, which makes things like airpogo more difficult. That doesn't mean there aren't beautiful jump maps though.

Now what do you guys think about jump map elements like floating platforms like those in jump trix but smaller and lower, or maybe even some surfable ramps? I feel like tf2 can get away with it because we're not CSGO where everything has to be in a realistic setting and i think it would be super interesting, but maybe i'm getting too carried away with this one
