Cause they're trying to get a general idea for all regions, not just NA.

Voted and commented. Right now it's at 70 votes and 60 comments, remember to go to the ESL forum if you agree to this. I don't really see any reason why we'd be in a position to turn down a major company taking an interest in our scene.

Hi all,

I would like to thank everyone who voted, this was a very quick process and showed that we had a lot of support for this. ESL loved how passionate the community is for the game!

Before we can move forward, I am going to cover somethings so the community understands how ESL Play and TF2 will work and to go over the structure.

https://cdn.eslgaming.com/misc/media/cm/structure.jpg

ESL's structure is based on participation. The more participants we see, the more we can offer to Team Fortress 2.

As the image shows, we will start at the bottom with ESL Open Cups, and progress all the way up to ESL Pro Events! This may seem a bit overwhelming but with community support this is achievable.

For ESL to progress us up to those levels, we need to increase the support for ESL Play. The more participants we have in tournaments, the more we can do such as Leagues and begin to roll in higher prize pools. But the keyword here is community, and ESL will be trying there best to support us and communicate to us regularly.

ESL Play Admins are watching this thread and will answer questions if they desire. Thanks everyone who has helped TF2 in anyway, lets hope we can make something good out of this.

ESL One NY stopped having SFV after 2016, this is tf2's time to fill the gap >:)

I'm just going to point out to all the NA players who kept asking why do we need another league, participating in ESL play or anything like that wouldn't change ESEA other than maybe a rebranding for the TF2 league from ESEA to ESL.

ESEA is owned by ESL
https://www.eslgaming.com/news/esl-expands-its-north-american-footprint-acquisition-esea-platform-2398

ESLESEA will continue as an independent entity under the ESL roof while enjoying the access to all of ESL’s products and services. Members can expect a continuation of the great services they are used to as both the ESEA brand name and community will continue in their existing form.

Literally every ESEA player should vote yes on something like this.

Mitch_Stuff about having ESL Leagues.

It was already said but it won’t do much good if TF2 gets another competitive league as it will create more separation in the community and will split high talent and the rest of the community between these different leagues so if we are going in the direction of having a league for ESL, I think it would be preferable if ESL talk with admins and managers of current leagues in order to reach some agreement so we won’t get to the aforementioned situation.

We already have teams dropping because of scheduling issues and while I don’t have experience to back me up, I think playing another official a week is more stressful than the scrim or free night it replaces which will definitely not give an incentive for people to participate in more leagues.

I was talking more about ETF2L and OZFortress, they can maybe get to some sort of sponsorship agreement or give the current league admins and managers some administrative spots in the new league if they wish to or something like.

also might seem heavy hypocritical to say on page one "do we need another league?" then say what i said above but like honestly ESL adding more incentives the more players join is a big incentive to move to ESL. imo.

As others in this thread have said,

for NA TF2, this would not create a new league, but would just be the modification of ESEA (quite possibly leading to better support?).

IMO it's hard to see this as anything other than a win/win for NA TF2.

As for EU/OCE/SA, I'd recommend that ESL reach out to admins and community leaders of the existing leagues there as well and see what kinds of opportunities there might be for working together.

Would love to see big TF2 events on ESL streams at some point :)

I probably should've mentioned this, we have no control over ESEA even though they're under the ESL brand. At this stage we haven't looked that far ahead but will discuss with everyone when information about a league is made available.
