How to fully uninstall the ESEA Client

Run a command prompt, type this:
driverquery | findstr ESEA*
If you get a result, the ESEA Driver is still running.

To Remove:
these steps may work:
Start -> Device Manager
View -> Show Hidden Devices
Expand "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"
Right click "ESEADriver2" -> Uninstall

If those steps don't work (I had to do this second method) navigate to here and delete this file
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Temp\ESEADriver2.sys

Edit: You need to remove the client first, this just prevents it from reinstalling itself on your computer.

You missed the first step: UNINSTALL THE CLIENT PROGRAM ITSELF FIRST. IDK if that actually does anything, but it's better than the client reinstalling the driver when uninstalling it.

Yeah, client is setup to reinstall the driver if it notices it's missing (at least accord to the lawsuit/release/etc)

I had the same issue, check that you have windows explorer to show hidden folders and files. You can do this by going through

Organise > Folder and search options > View Tab > Advance Setting Box > Hidden Folders Folder > Show..

Then go back to your \Temp folder and use the search bar for ESEA, should show up as only option. Do that query in cmd again to make sure you got the little shit

clorgDoes the current version of the client still have the malware on it?

I had to reformat my computer a little bit before the current season started, so I had to reinstall the client and everything, after uninstalling it a few days ago I still found the "ESEADriver2" in my device manager, so yeah, it does.

Remember when AVG started to detect the client as a Trojan a couple season ago? ESEA was like "oh don't worry about that, just add it as an exception and it'll stop."

Lol, fucking ESEA

I was thinking about this when the incident arose. Esea is a piece of shit. They need to fix their client right now. Forcing people to pay for malware is so fucking slimy its disgusting.

Uh, just to hopefully clear something up (I could be wrong, but this is my understanding):

The "ESEA Driver" isn't malware, perse; as an anti-cheat client, you have to have a lot of systems permissions to be able to actively detect cheats that could be injected into the games. The driver is just a lower level way to monitor everything.

I'm not necessarily defending the client, nor am I saying you should leave it installed, I just want to raise the point that just because the client installs a driver to the machine doesn't automatically mean it's doing something bad.

nah it's definitely turning your gpu into a blue rhino grill
just in time to heat up those chilly rooms from winter and an easy way to make great burgers for the holiday season

getting toasty

For me, ESEADriver2 isn't in Device Manager or even C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Temp\
But if I type driverquery in Command Prompt, ESEADriver2 it's still present.
Edit:apparently if you turn on "show hidden files, folders, or drivers" ESEADriver2 will be there :)
