rgl team rankings use points accumulated as the primary way to rank teams instead of overall record
it’s a nice system because teams that have played very dominantly but lost a game or two are rewarded with a higher ranking as opposed to teams who have won every game but have played close matches and haven’t looked dominant

If you lose a match it should count against you. Theoretically a team can lose every match 5-4 and still have more points at the end of the season than a team with 5 5-0 wins (1 point for losing 5-4, 3 points for a 5-0 win, as far as I’m aware.).
