From user experience which one to choose LG W2363D or Benq XL2411T? Im just looking for the one that wouldn't have any problems with it or just the least problems as well as i am interested in colors on them, if they are fixable by menu or anything then it's fine, because i would watch a lot of movies as well not just play games. There is quite a price difference, but more like is it worth it to get benq?
Does anyone know if it's possible to find a 17-19 inch 120hz monitor? I've been using a 17 inch gaming laptop for the last three years, and I'm so used to a 17.3 inch monitor that I'd rather just stay with the same size when I eventually build a rig (desk space is also a concern). I've searched a lot, but haven't been able to find anything.

You're right, doesn't look like there are any sub-20 in. 120hz, just off of a cursory Amazon search. And the only 20 in I found was an Acer. :(
I was about to recommend a CRT but that's definitely not for the space-conscious.

Having no experience with that monitor i cant say much, but both are good quality so its based on price/what u think is better.

So I'm considering two different monitors, both Asus: VG236H and VG248QE.
I found the VG236 from two sellers on Ebay, both the same price. However, the shipping puts the cost up to near the price of the VG248.
I found this review of the VG236, seems like the color may be better than the VG248: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3842/asus-vg236h-review-our-first-look-at-120hz/7
Also, about Lightboost: I currently have an AMD card, but I may upgrade to an Nvidia card eventually. But is Lightboost really worth switching video cards for?
So I don't know which one to get. Basically the same price, but one may have better colors (if you can confirm/deny, please do), but the other has Lightboost. If I could have some input, that would be nice.
Also, hooli gave to me through Walka some advice on color calibrating on the VG248 (about halfway through the page): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=24-236-313&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29&Page=6#scrollFullInfo

The jump from non-lightboost to lightboost was a bigger jump than from 60hz to 120hz for me.
You can find other people's icc profiles here:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1730425
For the best result I recommend not touching the colour temperatures and letting the icc profiles do the work, as they were generated with colorimeters. The colours look like shit with lightboost on regardless of what icc profiles I use though, so whenever I'm not playing tf2 I switch back to 144hz.
Just try all of them and see which one looks better on your monitor.

Whats the best cheap 120hz monitor? I'm thinking of getting one of these, but I might just get a good 60hz monitor and overclock it or something. Are there any in the ~200-250 dollar range?
Also can you overclock the normal 120hz ones to 144hz?

And how much do the lightboost monitors cost, how much more? Is it worth it?

Jesus christ this monitor is Good.
Im a 100% happy customer with the BenQ XL2420T.
If you have the FPS to back it up, get this screen.
Also, the default setup for colors / brightness / etc sucks, but it can easily be changed with a sweet menu.
So far, perfectly happy with this.
I do note a difference with the frames displaying clearly when i twitch and look quickly somewhere. It responds perfectly.
I noticed the difference even on my desktop, when my mouse pointer moves so smooth on my desk.
/happy.

That one is the most affordable, 98% of the reviews I've read for 2d lightboost say it is absolutely worth it

what kind of fps do you need to make a 120 hz monitor worth it?
Whalewhat kind of fps do you need to make a 120 hz monitor worth it?
120+
if your fps is lower than your refresh rate then it won't really make the game much smoother

This isn't necessarily true, a lot of people say they can notice 60Hz->75Hz, in which case you would only need 75 fps to take advantage of it. I would say you'd probably want 90+ to bother and ideally 120+ to get your money's worth

Yeah im running 160-240 fps all the time. Beautifull stuff.
Just ordered the Asus 144 hz. I'll post again with my thoughts when it gets here.
I heard even 60fps on a 120hz monitor will be better. Less screen tearing for one, and better response feeling (since it can display those frames faster, even if its only 60 of them a second, might be false though since I've never really used a 120hz montitor for long enough to try that
From reading a bunch of reviews that Asus VG248QE sounds like a really good deal, especially given it's $100 less in the US at this time than the BenQ.
I may just pull the trigger, it sounds like the colors are bad out of the box but there are color profiles you can get that make them likely better than the BenQ out of the box.
Too bad I don't have an nvidia card so I wouldn't be able to use lightboost.
Edit: ordered one off amazon, yeehaw - I'll reply back on my impressions going from a 6+ year old 60hz LCD once I get it

What did Yall do with your previous monitor?
I've already got two well functioning monitors :S

I just got the asus and I have to say the rumors are true.
Indeed as soon as I had it set to 120 hz I could tell a distinct difference even moving my mouse around the desktop. In game was a similar experience, looking around seems to be so fluent.
If you have any doubt in your mind as to whether a 120 hz monitor is worth it or not I'd recommend just clicking around on one for a minute or so then going back to 60 hz. The difference will be jaw dropping.

just got my asus running @ 144hz. hoooooli shit the difference is so huge from my crappy lcd. I guess I didn't realize just how crappy my previous monitor is, because now everything is crystal clear in motion. Playing scout is kind of ridiculous...tracking feels 100x easier.
asus 248qe or benQ XL2420T keep in mind the asus one is $100 less. what do you guys think/suggest?
