You can put your personal settings on an autoexec.cfg file, that gets loaded last. Really, take a couple minutes to see the documentation, which includes customization. If you have any other questions, over on the Discord you'll be able to chat with other users.

hey I love mastercomfig, I use the experimental and it looks and runs great. I was wondering if you ever contacted the tf team about improving the default config. It would really make the game more accessible.

I cannot use modules, there is no modules.log file in tf/cfg for me. The config itself works, and I can customize specific commands via an autoexec in tf\custom\customstuff\cfg\user.

When I load up the game my console looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/JPsBWM1

I's there a separate download for the modules that I'm somehow missing?

What version of the config are you using? Also, you can use the normal way to select modules, in modules.cfg. Do not use the =textures=high type commands in cfg files. Use textures=high in modules.cfg.

I'm using 6.14.1, the one that's on the website. I've tried selecting modules through the console and the modules.cfg file. When i do it tries to load the module but fails.

modules.log is used for the in-game selection, but does not affect modules.cfg. Can you share your modules.cfg?

Also, the reason why it says that error is because in a recent update, TF2 broke how in-game selection was being done. I fixed this in a mastercomfig 8 beta update.

Playing in directx 98, low preset with a few things set to very_low,. The bug seems to happen in that part of the spawn area. When I walk away, the lighting seems to return to normal, and back to dark when I return. Switching to dx8 fixed the problem.

Could you try a low preset with no selected modules, and see if it still happens?

Could you try a low preset with no selected modules, and see if it still happens?

@mastercoms Wow, you seem to have a very good knowledge of the game's graphical commands, far more than I could ever get through with trial-and-error and the somewhat-sparse dev wiki. I wish I'd looked at your autoexec when writing my wiki pages; that has so much more than what I could find.
Anyway, I'm Haiku, AKA ByThePowerOfScience, and I currently manage the TF2 scripting subreddits "r/TF2Scripts" and "r/TF2ScriptHelp". I'm trying to make a proper codex of all this nonsense that is Source's convars, and I'd really appreciate your input. Is there any chance we could talk/chat? I'd really love to discuss some scripting things with you.

How do I change my fps_max. I use medium low, setting "fps_max X" in custom.cfg doesn't override the vpk and when I edit the "fps_max 181" line in the vpk directly my game doesn't wanna launch.

My mumble overlay is just a bunch of white squares now which blows
I remember the fix involving "mat_antialias" but idk what value to change or what to do to fix my overlay

Frames dip when a cloaking/decloaking spy is on screen. Is this a config issue or an issue with hardware? Can this problem only be solved by upgrading specs?

7 is outdated. Use the 8 beta.

Houdini@mastercoms what do you think is the best interp settings for scout, i leave mine at interp_ratio 1 and cl_interp 0.021, internet upload speed is less than 1 Mbps

the mastercomfig defaults are what I think are best for most. Interp doesn't have much to do with internet speed, but more to do with packet loss.
