After four seasons of bringing Prolander to Europe, EU.RGL has announced the cancellation of all major league activity in Europe due to the departure of their head admin Albert.
Ever since its inception in the early spring of 2018, RGL has become a prominent league within Europe, being the only major league to offer Prolander. The period of activity has overall been a success in Europe. Old and new players alike migrated over to try something new, allowing RGL to cut out its own niche within the community.
During this time, the European side of RGL became more and more autonomous from its original American counterpart, hoping to bring in more and more staff for the league in order to build a self-sustaining community within Europe. However, due to many European players remaining skeptical of Prolander, and a lack of a common gamemode with other leagues to act as a bridge, the league never achieved the same heights as its NA brother.
Over time, the gap between EU and NA kept growing, but without the level of sustainability in Europe that was hoped for. The EU league still needed assistance from across the pond but never received it with the urgency it wanted. Some staff-members of the European league started to become more annoyed with NA, and even disillusioned, culminating in part of the league-admin team stepping down mid-season. New staff were brought in to help run PUGs for the community, but this young blood quickly lost momentum and stopped helping out consistently.
Finally, the head-admin in Europe, Albert, announced they would be stepping down due to time-restraints, although they plan to stay active in the Discord server. With a fraction of the original staff-team left, what little plans for Season 5 existed are cancelled.
EU.RGL isn’t forever dead; With the opportunity for a new head-admin to step up and start working on a staff team, the league could live on. However, don’t expect major progress in the near future. Albert's own comments on the situation can be found here.
