One of my friends was having problems extremely similar:
check your shutdown temps in your bios
watch your temperatures as you do "intensive" things like playing games etc.
If you come anywhere near these shutdown temperatures then that's probably your problem.

hopefully they keep it simple and accessible, i would love a lightweight, well made, simple arena shooter to play.
I think before they go crazy on the zombies they want to do more client side optimization which supposedly they haven't yet.
But it's fun and scary and very very hard to survive due to the lack of med supplies and food/water.
It's a step in the right direction though.
