#15 A comprehensive guide to the Bonk! Atomic Punch. in TF2 General Discussion
springrollshow u gonna write a comprehensive guide and not put in the fact that u can cheese the slowdown by spamming ad (if going forward)

I forgot about it when writing the guide.

RahmedUse rentry.co for nicer looking markdown text

Thanks. I didn't know about this site till now.

carteri don't need to read 100+ lines of text to know that bonk makes you invincible for a while

That's not what the guide is about tho. It's about the optimal usage of the Bonk!

#10 a few obscure launch options to boost performance in Customization
_flacAimIsADickWhich one's worse?
Is there a fetish for continual public embarrassment? AimIsADick HAS to be enjoying this, right? ...

Yes there is; it's called masochism, and I'm somewhat of a masochist, but I'm barely one at all. I just adapted to this community's hate against me.

#8 a few obscure launch options to boost performance in Customization
mastercomsAren't all of these documented (if they are at all useful) on mastercomfig docs?

https://docs.mastercomfig.com/en/latest/customization/launch_options/
https://docs.mastercomfig.com/en/latest/tf2/silly_launch_options/

-softparticlesdefaultoff is controlled by mat_reduceparticles 1, no reason to use the launch option really
-noff doesn't do anything, force feedback is never attempted to be initialized.
-gl_texclientstorage isn't a good feature, enabling it does the opposite of what you described. Client storage refers to storing textures on the client, i.e., not the GPU.
-soft doesn't exist, did you mean -mat_softwaretl?

A fair amount of launch options exist, but there are some debug launch ops that haven't been documented (or at least by me yet anyway).

pyurpurroti read the thread title and was excited thinking that tftv got a 2nd AimIsADick. im sad to see this isnt the case

Which one's worse?

#92 Proper Performance Guide on TF2. [UNFINISHED] in Customization

I should have mentioned this a while ago, but I was never actually going to finish this guide. I only posted this unfinished guide, because archiving stuff is important.

#2204 mastercomfig - fps/customization config in Customization
24If someone is asking a question on how to fix a problem in a forum, do you expect them to have knowledge in something advanced such as GDB?

Ordinarily no. Since it was mastercoms I was talking to then, I'd thought she had knowledge of debuggers, considering her past experience with CPP.

24Also, if TF2's console is 'unreliable', then why did the developers think it was a good idea to add it in?

So that they could solve issues without having to attach a console to TF2. TF2's console is unreliable because most error messages have no real impact on the game. Meanwhile a runtime error (like SIGSEGV) is a lot more reliable.

#19 There's been RCE exploits in TF2 for 4 YEARS. in TF2 General Discussion
Adnurakyou have literally one solitary HL log

What HL log? I don't play HL.

Adnurak, I can't understand why you think this website is the place for you, but please never stop

Idk either. I treat tf.tv users as just another customer base.

turbochad69fun rule of thumb AimIsADick: if someone like you knows about it, it's patched

…also the write up says it's been patched in csgo and tf2, and that steam invites for other games will show a confirmation dialog when passed abnormal launch flags

Yeah you already told me. What about the map RCEs in CS:GO (and maybe TF2) though?

_flacFor someone who uses kali linux, it seems you do a lot of your research on internet explorer....
Welcome to 2018 my dude

But I use windows 10. I can't even install GNU/Linux because I lost my flash drives some months back.

turbochad69Valve fixed this 6 months ago in tf2: https://i.imgur.com/XbI1hPU.png, would post the link but you actually already posted it lol

It's a very very foolish mindset to assume that there aren't bugs leading to rce in any software, let alone a c++ codebase from 2004, with old versions of 3rd party libraries, that valve has been adding to in the way that they have.

This specific bug in XZip has been found and patched, there are undoubtedly many more similar bugs in other parts of Source/tf2, and you should assume the same for nearly any software.

Seems that Valve only patched the steam invite RCE for TF2. What about CS:GO? What about the other RCEs?

#5 shit routing : network nerds come help pls in Q/A Help

For starters what is your environment (settings, mods (including config), OS, and hardware) when you had this issue? What server were you on when this issue happened (give the IP so I can check the server myself)? Can you put your screenshots in a download link?

scrambledAimIsADickIn those cases a debugger might be needed (like GDB).Stop.

To use a debugger the software has to be compiled with debugging information, which most release software isn't.

Not neccessarily. While yes there isn't much information that can be gotten without debugging info, you can still see console logs easier and get the specific error that happens, rather than relying on TF2's unreliable console output. Also a debugger doesn't need debugger output to be used on a program. Just go ahead and use GDB on TF2 if you doubt me.
